I had this, was a dodgy cable. Swapped it out for a new one and the problem went away.

Then get O2 to do it, it's permanent then and doesn't involve f**king about every time a new baseband comes out.

Get the person that you acquired it from to ring O2, it's free, or if you can't then you could ring O2 and ask them but I'd guess they will charge or say no. Other than that your only hope is that the baseband hasn't updated, which it no doubt has.
