I believe most cars lacquer is petrol resistant i.e. where the petrol cap is it has to be, Id try petrol on a cloth, Before that if i had any id soak the area in autosmart tardis, a strong tar remover... if you dont have any try petrol, id google it before doing though just in case its not...
