I was thinking of the Nikkor 50mm 1.8d AF But after a quick google it wont AF on my camera? The 35mm, which will AF.. is 179 and seeing as its a present i don't really want to get them spending that much... anything else around £140? Or shall i get the 50mm for about £105 and man up...

Sounds like boot solenoid is gone... Take the boot plannel of, one torx screw then pops off then you can unbold the solenoid...

A fair few washes, but not at the moment because the hose pipes frozen! Washed it by bucket last week... Enjoy the cleaning not the cold

The Vax 6131 is supposed to be very very good for car cleaning, a lot of valeters use it iirc? I have the smaller Vax V-020U, Works perfect for me.

Didn't really touch a nerve for me, nice cars though.
