bob - this made me think about the ECU a bit - is this something that the ECU would log on a fault code?
would the reo chaps just plug a diag. machine into the ECU and read off the appropriate fault code? or is it not t6hat simple?! ;)
mate, im in the smae boat as you - got my RT about 4months ago, it was in pretty good nick apart from little niggly things like the alarm didnt work, splitter bent, lights blown, etc.
anyway, i got it all sorted, and after two weeks my mum reversed into the door. then, a month later, a lorry...
hold on for a sec - you dont know whats gone yet! you might have been lucky in that you might not have done much damage.
if you turn the engine SLOWLY by hand using a socket on the crankshaft pulley, i think you would be able to feel if there was any contact being made between valve and...
yeah i know, the thing is that ive gotta pay off my HUGe credit card bill before i go to uni and cant afford the shocks at the mo!
let me just get the facts right - correct me if im wrong:
# -60mm springs will knacker a shock pretty quickly
# you will get sh*t handling from -60mm springs -...
sh*t this is gettin harder - just went to sanspeed, just round the corner, and the bloke there will sell me a set of eibach prolines for £90, a quoted 35mm drop. they are progressive, what benR was talking about, and i know they are a good spring from the comments people have said!
but 35mm...
im not doubting what he said, but you know what its like when you get a new mod...you imiagine the difference, clouded by the rally-style roar it makes !
like brun said, those mods are really all thats worthwhile doing to give improve performance, without costing you mega bucks. the 1400 isnt really a beefy engine to start with, so any big gains you might be hoping for will only really be possible with the inclusion of a turbo / supercharger...
look like 15s to me - yeah looks ok, i see what people mean about it not looking low enough, but i suppose its a trade off between looks and handling.
you still on the original shocks rik?
ICEman - yeah i agree my tastes are more witht he 60mm slam, but i cant afford to get the shocks that would be needed to do it properly, hence me getting the 40mms - as long as i can get rid of the gaping fat hole between the wing and rim, ill be happy (for now!)
are they good vfm in your opinion? do you have pics of your car with the springs on? oh, and have you still got standard scocks?
thats what i thought about the torsion bar!
just got off the phone to dave at ktec, can get 35mm springs for about 45+vat, or he does a 55mm drop for (i think) 55+VAT. i asked him about the handling on the 55s, and he said it wont really change much, depends though on how many passengers youre carrying.
Also, i asked him if you would...
yea mate - my first car was a mk2 fezzie, a bag of sh*te if ever i drove one - lasted 4wks before it fell apart and i got a nissan micra (oh.) for ages. To tell you the truth, unless you have a LOT of money to be burnt (which i def. didnt!) then learn how to drive properly in this car, and after...
not really an inductrion kit for a carbd motor - a bolt on filter will do the trick, and yeah usually you need to muck about with the mixture and idle settings to get it tuned properly, dunno about refloating the carb tho?.....
cheers for all your help ben mate, youve cleared everything up for me!
...apart from one last thing - what is spring poundage? is it progressively wound springs?
thanks again ben,
steve
lol! clean, thats what i think, but i reckon you should speak to someone with legal / speed policing knoledge of this to make sure you arent gonna go to court and look like an arrogant p*ick and then get a harsh fine! there might be sommit both of us have missed?
jyst read the link i gave you...
oh right, not a normal plodder then! i can only guess, but it would probably be that he might have timed you from one visual marker to another (roadsign?), and then confirmed it by driving at 96mph and logging it.
but that still doesnt give any actual photographic proof that you were doing it...
did you ask for proof at the time (actually, that would have sounded stupid i spose if you were doing over a ton!) - you sure you didnt see anything in the car that could have been tracking your speed?
if youre sure then i would challenge it.
look here - they give some info if you need it...
option 2 wont work, i tried something similar when i was done by a gatso (45 in a 30) and they politely told me to f**k off (not in so many words mind!!!)
about him saying hell put down you were doing 96 - he CANT have any proof of that if he saw you going at 120, and i suppose if he changed...
wish i could see his tyres after that!
heres the full list - the site had loads of them!
