I did do some checking on the drive to work this morning and the car really gets going at close to 5000rpm, leaving less than 2000rpm of real acceleration. Find a real step in performance at 5000 rpm, esp in lower gears.

Maybe it was a long time since I owned a NA 2.0 car with similar lowish HP and Torque. Thinking back it was 98 and my wifes 306 GTI6.
Dont get me wrong I love the car on a B road and the handling is great. Not thinking of changing it or owt like that. Worried that I might have to start...
Im used to car that you need to keep in a sweet spot, but come upto a roundabout at 20mph in second and then boot it and it a long wait for it to hit that sweet spot, especially if the exit is up hill. I do realise there is a first gear, but my point is that this is one damn hard car to keep on...
Even a diesel seems to have a wider power band.
I love loads about my 182. Only two things let it down - now Ive run it in.
1. Clicking relays - has Renault realised this is the 21st century.
2. Power Band - to me the engine seems like a VTEC without the benefit of a 9000rpm red line...
If you want bickering, go to Scoobynet. With more version of Imprezas than people in China it can be non stop.
The lastest crap Spec C vs WR1 ie Major Dereciation vs Great Limited Edition. Talk about people worrying about 0.2sec to 60.

I got £2k off my UK supplied car. Im the first registered owner. A few dealers had heart attacks when I asked for £2k off. Might of got a little more, but wanted a car that week.

Not sure I totally agree.
If the 206 had had rave reviews, then Renault might of felt the need. Saying that the 182 must have been in design before the new 206GTI was released. If they were really bothered about numbers, then 200 bhp would of been a goal (2.0 litres ?)
On your second point...
I nearly bought one. I do a lot of B road driving and it really didnt feel at home there. An amazing amount of steering pull - left and right. You had to keep your wits about you. Very hard work to drive smoothly and fast.

I use Zymol. There are other products out there that compete with it like Zaino - not easily available in the UK. I certainly see it as a step above Autoglym. Tend to buy things like shampoo from Meguiars
I would recommend it. The wax last forever, so whilst expensive, it keeps oin and going...

I would get your mate to look at other finance methods as well. A straight loan with no early settlement charge is the way to go.
Most dealer schemes have front loaded interest, so any early settlement is hampered by the interest. Another thing to consider is that a dealer HP scheme...
Brief summary
For those that like their figures first (Car had 1700 miles on it)
0-60 in 6.3
0-100 in 17.0 (0.1 slower than a Cup according to Autocar ie sod all)
30-70 in 5.8
Dont like the aging roots of the car, crap driving position (100% with them on that) and refinement
Do...
Agree with other sentiments. I tried the non cup suspension and now have the cup version.
You will need to it get top dollar come resale time, plus you will also wonder what you are missing without it. The cup suspension is pretty good ride wise for a car of its type and size.
I went for...
Its risky to leave it like that. I have asked before. Had to pay extra on my M3 when specified with 19" wheels from the factory. Some mods they want to know about, but dont care - alcons on the P1 for example.
I personally would declare everything. If you are involved in a serious accident...
I never visited the dealer I bought from. Tried a few of the brokers, they all quoted 6 weeks, I wanted NOW.
I sent an email to about 15 dealers (including the big groups). Told them what I wanted - based my price on Drive the Deal and got it. I could of saved a couple of hundred more if I had...
Id have to agree with D-Cup - too much moneyIf you want Rear wheel drive and a big V6, go for the 350Z with GT pack.
No knocking it, but whichever way its dressed up, its way too much money for a Clio. But if you have money to burn, go for it.
13k off is reasonably good - did this include Metalic ?
I got 13350 for Met Paint, Cup Spoiler and Cup Suspension - Main UK dealer. A broker might of saved me another 200, but I wanted a car this week.

My 182 Clio in basic form cost 13k, spot on from a UK dealer with immediate delivery. IMHO you might save 800 with Motorpoint, but you are still short 1 year warranty and need to add a CAT1 alarm
Can you get the Motorpoint cars with Cup Suspension ?
My feeling was that everyone will want it...
Thanks for the welcome.
Leafy Bucks will have a nice 182 buzzing around.
I am guilty of owning a few cars. Of the hot hatch variety Ive owned:oops:
Although a couple have been the wifes
R32, LCR, Leon Cupra, Cooper S, Fabia RS (with chip) Could do my own group test.
Had a few others...
