ok, but do you think the marks are from the wax that is starting to come off (waxed bout 1 month ago) i'll give it a go with some cleaner polish to see if that takes this residue off and see if thats whats causing these marks in the sunlight, i will try and take some pics to show you what i mean...

ok last few times i have washed the car i have noticed after drying it that when the sun catches the paint i can see fine scratches in a kind of arc shape starting at the bottom of the windows and going down and towards the back of the car? i ran my hands over the bodywork yesterday and whatever...

is that the only difference? e.g the interiors and spec are the same?

i would say your car is already wired to have the fogs as its a 172, buy some new fogs and fit them and connect the cables. i may be wrong but i think its likely if you have the stalk and the light on th dash for them and the wiring it would have had them originally :)
