I quite like them in Cup guise, plus they are a huge improvement on the fail that was the standard PH2 172 wheels.
The only thing I'd change them for would be a set of wheels significantly lighter.
Our local Renault dealer has just started doing these Silver, Gold and Platinum service plans. Assuming you had your belts done last year, I'd think the Silver would be fine.
Part worns aren't as great an economy as you might think, if you consider them at their price per usable millimetre of tread (ie. 8-3mm* on a brand new tyre) then part worns are rarely a lot cheaper.
* Yes, I said 3mm, which is the point at which tyres generally stop becoming as effective...
I've got the car booked in at a local place with a hawk-eye system, and I'm curious what kind of results people have had with different geometry settings?
I imagine the standard settings are done with saving the planet (and your tyres) in mind - I'm after something a little more focussed.
What...
I've finally done something I've been meaning to do for ages, and that is to have a dedicated button for my garage door in my car.
Please excuse the shocking solder, I bought a soldering iron under the impression it came with assorted tips when in fact that's an extra and it comes with a 5mm...
No doubt, people get pulled over when driving sensibly, but this is generally the exception rather than the rule, and when you get pulled over 15+ times in 12 months, you cannot possibly argue it is anything but the manner in which the driver presents him/herself, be it a poor state of...
Trade.
How to get it all depends on your local garage, I manage to blag it most places I go but I could not at my local Renault dealer. Fortunately, I know a lot of people in a load of different motorfactors and parts departments over here, so a quick ring around and it wasn't long before I...
Of course you disagree, half of the problem is that you were not aware there was a problem with your driving. Assuming your Saxo did not look like a Christmas Tree, sound like a wet fart or look like a dog then it was your driving. I suspect later on your driving simply improved.
Young 'uns do...
Decat fitted yesterday, I haven't really noticed any difference but it sounds a bit louder now I guess.
De-phaser, aux belt, cambelt, crank bolt etc. all ordered as well, ready to be done next Saturday :)
I've also ordered some braided lines, so it's just discs and pads and it's all done :)
You get pulled because of the way you drive, not because of the car you drive (unless you've made it silly).
Out of the VR6, VXR, ST and now the 182 I've not been pulled over once. I rarely change my driving just because there is a copper around either, but by the same token I do not drive...
The trip computer displaying 'oil' followed by a load of dashes is almost certainly oil level, as it displays this before starting the engine, so there is no oil pressure :)
I was being stupid and was confused by the "SERV" light thinking it was a service indicator - it was indeed an oil level...
I'd have to say, a turbo would ruin a 1*2 for me.
Part of the appeal after coming from two previous turbo hot hatches, is being able to put the power down with no unpredictable coming on boost and the throttle response.
If you have to go FI, supercharged should be the only way, IMO.
I first noticed this a week ago when the SERV light lit and the trip computer displayed "oil" followed by a row of dashes, knowing it was last serviced at 132k (now on 136k) I moved the car to a flat and checked the oil just in case it was also used as an indication of low oil level. Oil was...
Check the fluid
Red = PAS, if it's gearbox oil it'll probably look more "oily" (funnily enough).
Does the whine get worse as you turn the steering wheel at low speed, or as you speed up slow down?
If it's empty, fill it up, do a few turns lock to lock with the lid off and see if the noise disappears. Then find the leak.
If you have a PAS leak then you need to stop driving the car as running it dry may kill your PAS pump.
Very recently ex-Renault tech in a casual conversation.
£10 is still a better result (for me) than £150 + labour. :P
How long did it take, out of curiosity? Also, how did you get it off pump side? I couldn't see any easy way to get the pipe off the pump with the heatshield in the way.
I noticed mine long before it ran completely dry with the whine. I called the AA, declined the tow and just got a couple of bottles of ATF from him.
I'm struggling to understand what you're trying to say there, but I cut out the leaking portion of the pipe and used those compression joints to...
