It sounds like your security settings are blocking JavaScript in some way but if you have deleted IE then good for you

Was gonna say it's unlikely to be drivers if you can't connect via wifi or wired as they are 2 different drivers to go bang at once. Not impossible but improbable. we have an answer now anyway.
