if you havent got much money so spend i say keep it... also keep some money aside for things breaking.... no point in spunking your money on cars you can't afford. Keep it another year and try and save some money by keeping it standard and only doing things that need to be done on it. Come next...
flog it and get a vtr. im running round in one at the moment. for the money immensely entertaining to drive and theyre not as badly put together as people make out.
if they replaced the lower arm they should have replaced the ball joint.. becuase its a dealer only part on a 172 and comes only with a new ball joint.
you mean if the rear coils are touching? on my old 1.4 dynamique i had g max suicide springs and all the coils touched eachother, got through an MOT no problem.
most cat d's are pretty light damage to be fare, cat c's depending on the age can be pretty much nothing as well. Just use your common sense or take someone who knows a good deal about bodywork/mechanics and request pics before damage. As for the VOSA inspections on cat c's its known as a VIC...
repair it.. get the rack 2nd hand and get a remanufactured drive shaft from gsf... and the rest new from gsf. Piece of pee pee to fit all done, no claim and a maximum of a couple of hundred quid down.
there was a severe whining/groaning noise that developed from the front of my mates 1.4 mk1 (s). and the rear wheel bearings were a bit noisy so we changed both rear bearings and also the n/s front as this appeared to be where the noise was coming from (and got louder when turning right or on...
the 316/318 in the e36 and e46 were a 4 cylinder as well and the 318tds. e36... and im assuming the 318 e90 is the same... (think current shape is called e90? or is that 5 series?)
definitely confront them, say i saw one of your staff driving the car and smoking in it, the car doesn't need to leave the premises for an mot. ask them to explain themselves.
