aye, there's a wiring colour chart sticker on the actual stereo case on my Alpine. otherwise, you might be able to find the installation manual on the web. it's usually a blue wire for the remote switch anyway
if you need to connect it to the lead in your hand, buy the appropriate sized...
hmm.. haven't come across those before. is it going to charge me the earth to send one? sorry to be a nause, but have you got a link to the site you signed up with?
otherwise, hopefully some kind soul with a scanner might be able to help
bugger. would like to have watched that:dapprove:
just had a look on the club sites and the results aren't up yet - interesting to see how the two Renaults got on in class
Haynes manual will talk you through it. axle stands also a good idea
Haynes won't explain what to do if you get stuck, but just fire a thread up on here if you do - should get plenty of real-time advice for something like a disc/pad change
what's your girlfriend's car?
could be a handbrake cable compensator problem (may be a stretched cable on one side) or problem with the drum/shoes/handbrake mech
not too far, then. i was planning on popping up to Merlin at C/Coombe at some point, so can offer to meet there? wing me a PM and we'll arrange something:)
these uprated ones do mount the engine solidly (zero hand movement) but, as said, still got noticeable shunt in mine. i did notice a...
are you sure of the condition of the s/h mounts? as they don't seem to last well if the car's given much stick
not sure how local you are (i'm in C/Sodbury), but i've a known good upper gearbox and upper engine mount (20k) that you're welcome to fit and try briefly (i don't want to sell them)...
think it's solid behind the filter - just oil galleries
can you poke some wire down the tube to see if there's an obstruction? then measure the length of wire, match it against the rest of the stick and see if that tells you anything?
sounds like a sump off job anyway
ed. thinking about...
lol. if it'll do it whilst the car's stationary, get someone to sit in it and reproduce the sound whilst you get down and find out where it's coming from. could be a few things (assuming it's actually the steering) - track rod ends, track rods, rack bushes, rack itself, lower column UJ, upper...
try swapping the red/yellow leads over in the Alpine loom; apparently, some Frenchies are wired oddly - possible that the leads in the Alpine loom were swapped over to accomodate this? worked with mine anyway
ed. double post
it's difficult to see from above but would be easier if you removed the airbox - should be a plastic 'wingnut' affair on the front of the box (sort of behind the rad)
short length of (clean) hosepipe would do to fill it up with - obv. need to do it with the car level, so don't jack it up
how...
i'd like to keep mine until it's done as well (always depends upon circumstances over the years). managed well over 200k in my last two cars, but you've got to accept that you WILL be spending more and more as the mileage racks up. got to say that, so far, the Renault isn't fairing too well -...
i've got a (second hand) 2.5" stainless KTEC on mine
it was unbelievably noisy at large throttle openings with a decat on it. funny you should say yours seems to vibrate, as i thought mine did as well, although this may have been to do with how i'd mounted it (didn't check before taking it...
they may already have been done, but the engine mounts and some of the suspension bits (leaky dampers, snapped springs, top mounts) don't seem to have a great service life
it just depends upon the car/engine and the exhaust; raspy non-cat example could be the 1600 CVH in the XR3i - even with the factory exhaust, these would sound raspy
must say that i was surprised at just how noisy a decat was on my RS, but it does depend on the exhaust you've got it hooked...
i've seen people at sprints attempting to run with A048s on the front and roads on the back; you likely need a good level of car control, as it'd be quite unbalanced (i remember one pair of guys using the same 205GTi - one was very quick, and the other kept spinning it). that said, the RS2s...
are they supposed to be 512TRs?:dapprove:
check out some of the Norwood conversions - might still hold speed/power records; something crazy like 1600hp
oh yeah! that does look welded :S
i've the KTEC ones on my daily and think i'm getting away with it; they've probably calmed down a little with the mileage although i've run a daily with uprated mounts before and particularly don't like the OE mounts, so i'm probably making allowances
20k seems more reasonable for such a light car. some horror stories here!
sounds like another quirk of the car. nothing on it that's made of rubber seems to last more than 5mins..
