BTW, the alternative for 17s is 225/35x17 as opposed to the std 205/40x17 option everyone usually opts for. And Goodyear do the F1 in this size! :devilish:
I had these on my fiesta turbo - 7x16" rims with 215/40x16 Yoko A510s. The handling was sublime but they soon went off when they were part-worn and it was wet. I changed over to Eagle F1s and they were far better. Its that 215 width that gives you plenty more footprint on the road - well worth...
Nice one LeeM. But where can I get some?
BTW, tried the WonderWheels tonight on one wheel and, after much elbow grease, a jetwash and repeated applications, the stuff is coming off - hurray!
*mental note to self* NEVER let em get like that EVER again!!
Thanks for the words of encouragement philip! Sounds like Ill need some matt black wheels then!!
Glad to hear the car is performing well! I know the feeling, although Ive yet to have the engine mods - cant really justify it doing 30 miles a week!
*LOL* thanks Philip!!
Option 1 - Id need to swap the wheels front to back a few times to get an even coating!
Option 2 - hmm, a rather expensive cleaning product! The tyres are worn so I might bite the bullet and order my 17s with F1 225/35x17s
Option 3 - ha, I can hear the laughter now...
Thanks for all the excellent suggestions!
Ive bought some Wonder Wheels, so will give it a go (when I dry off from the burst pipe in the bathroom!). And, out of interest, whats the Autoglym cleaner called (I use their Fast Glass and Polish). Also, who makes the brake/caliper cleaner?
My 172 alloys are caked in brake dust (a moment of weakness in that I didnt have time to keep cleaning them over the winter) which is proving impossible to remove. Ive tried a couple of so-called miracle cleaners from Halfords but the baked on brake dust wont budge. Ive also tried the jetwash...
Itd be nice if this wasnt restricted to members only!! Having fun right now finding a decent SE based dealer who doesnt want to rob me of over £200 for a 12k service on my 172... :@
Yes...The garage is based just outside Basildon, Essex. philip on here also has the mods mentioned in the post and is very happy with the improvements. PM him for a 2nd opinion!
 Well, thats what you get for making assumptions Smokey!
Im quite happy to put anyone who wants said conversion for their 172/Cup in touch with the person who developed it...his names not Ernie and hes no LAD :devilish:
Pah, whats the problem with a little squealing when they dramatically improve the braking?! Besides, most of the time you cant hear it above the engine note etc. - its only in traffic that its apparant...
