Thanks. I thought £200+ was expensive! When I questioned how an oil/filter change could cost £200 (the labour was £50/h @ 1.6 hours) each time they got rather defensive and reckoned, "Oh, we do lots of checks on the car"...presumably as they hack it to the nearest McDonalds and find the Vmax in...
The time has come to get the 172 1st service completed (my 2 years are up, although Ive only done 10k miles). I ran a couple of local dealers this morning, one quotes £205, the other £212 :o All this for oil, oil filter, pollen filter, air filter, general check and 1.6 hours labour. I dont even...
...and Ive got a mint 02 172 in black with Eibachs/geometry handling mods/Carbon Metallic pads, 2 years old in May, 10k miles which Ill be looking to sell.
An excellent summary! Which leads me to ask...
* Does all that torque lead to effortless driving/acceleration in the gears?
* The thing I love about the Mk2 172 is that its so chuckable and you can hussle it round roundabouts etc. with great ease. Given the weight of the V6, is this sort of...
Ive got a Mk2 V6 spoiler on my Mk2 172 and, first time I got it fitted, it did indeed foul the roof. But now it doesnt at all! Paul172 is right, the V6 struts are very expensive. I think he ended up using new Espace bonnet struts which are something like £20-30.
Pic of mine -...
Just to add that Davis in Sevenoaks (an independant Renault dealer as opposed to the might of Whitehouse) are utterly superb, and didnt bat an eyelid at my import 172 when it went in for warranty work...
Glad to hear its all gone well philip!!
And, finally, someone who listens on this board and has opted for the suspension mods I was banging about months ago - and has walked away a very happy chappy! :devilish:

...because, in the spirit of trying to be helpful, I have posted the information ahead of time. Fact - one car (a cup) has already been converted, and a proven 210bhp has been achieved on an independant Rolling Road. Fact - the conversion has been done by someone who I trust completely and who...
I fitted mine myself after buying it from one of the guys on here....
It came with a metal bracket that bolted onto the gearbox. A cable tie then held the heatshield to the the bracket. Not ideal, but it works. I think Nick was looking into better solutions.
As for the cold air feed, I...
All good things come to those who wait....
philip knows the score ;) Hes had the suspension mods I talked about ages ago put on his Cup... he knows the 210 mods are from a pukka source...
*LOL @ Roamer*
As Ive said, the kit is designed to be more discreet at a mere glance under the bonnet - always handy ;-)
Ill have more details very soon - patience is a virtue, or so they say (not that I have any as Im itching to get the kit fitted and need to save the necessary ££££s).
Glad to have generated some interest!
Hats off to Roamer for his awesome TB conversion which, I believe, has not been without its teething problems.
This kit offers an alternative, and stealthier, route to more power whilst retaining a factory feel - i.e. smooth idle, etc. I hope to have it...
Developed, tested and ready to fit - a kit for the 172 that will give you a guaranteed 210bhp for around £1500+VAT, fitted. Its not throttle bodies and is in fact very discreet (no loud exhausts, etc.)...
One lucky Cup owner has had this kit fitted, and hopefully mines next in line in a months...
Watch this space - I know of a kit for the 172 that will give you a guaranteed 210bhp for around £1500+VAT, fitted. Its not throttle bodies and is in fact very discreet (no loud exhausts, etc.)...
