Engine starts to misfire when it warms up- 172 Cup

So, my 172 Cup. Started misfiring but only does it when the engine's up to temperature. Replaced the lambda sensor as it'd needed it for a while. Replaced the spark plugs. Checked the injectors. Replaced the HT leads. Replaced the coil pack (twice). Put it into a garage to see if they...

Ahhh. I had actually intended to come along to this one, but in the mess of everything else that was happening I wound up just sort of forgetting :(

Trouble removing front doors on a 172 Cup

Yeah, I kinda figured that. I might take a grinder to the door so I can get at the pin straighter, it's f**ked anyway.

Trouble removing front doors on a 172 Cup

Fair enough, thanks guys. I'll try hitting it harder on Sunday then, maybe with a bit of heat gun action thrown in here and there :p

Trouble removing front doors on a 172 Cup

I don't know everything. I know a lot of things. And I haven't posted in that thread in a while. But.... kinda. I did hold that reputation for a while. This is one example of a thing I don't know and would like to. I'm aiming to try again on Sunday with a bigger hammer and a longer drift...

Trouble removing front doors on a 172 Cup

So long story short I need to remove the driver's door from my 172 Cup and I've got to the pins and removed the clips but the pins aren't budging. Is this common? Is there a trick to it or a particular tool that makes it easier? Do I just need to find a way to hit the pins harder? So far I've...

    EMS recommendations

Right, so. My track car, a Clio 172 Cup, has stopped responding to throttle input. In addition, it's started idling a little high- about 1900 RPM- and quite rough. I've checked the pedal box, and that works. I've checked the throttle body, and that works. I've checked the wiring, and while I...

    Recommendations for a track car

I need new tyres anyway, and have already started looking into what's good for track use; the only reason I'm looking at suspension this early is because I need to replace bits of my daily driver's suspension already (another 172 Cup) and the easiest way for me to do that is to take the stock...

    Recommendations for a track car

That's fine; I can get the Spax set or just stock replacements for my road car; as I said, this one's not going to be driven on roads, it's a dedicated track machine. Speaking of stock replacements, do you know where I'd go for those when the time comes? Renault Parts Direct good? I apologise...

    Recommendations for a track car

Right, so I now have a pretty clear idea of what I want in terms of brakes and brake fluid (with massive thanks to everybody, particularly @George@RTR_Parts ). In the interests of getting Step 6 rolling, what do you guys know about refreshing the suspension on a 172 Cup? I'm probably looking...

    Recommendations for a track car

Right, so with thanks to @alistairolsen and @Potatoes and everyone else for their input, my immediate plan runs something like this: 1: Get HEL braided brake lines (I like the idea of stainless ends, I've had bad experiences with corroded brake line tips when doing repairs before). 2: Get...

    Recommendations for a track car

I'll be using a trailer to get the car to and from the track. I have one available and it seems like a better option than just relying on never breaking the car at a track day.

    Recommendations for a track car

I haven't taken it to the track yet and the suspension that is on the car is all stock and works well, but I need to replace the brake pads & discs anyway due to wear and here's the twist: I have a second Cup as my daily driver and I really need to replace my suspension on that. My plan is to...

    Recommendations for a track car

I'm building a 172 Cup into a track car. My main priority is gonna be suspension and brake setup to start with (though I am easily distracted by shiny things) but I have no idea where to start. My goal is, obviously, improved handling. I plan to do most of the work myself; I've worked on...

BHP Performance show, 2017 May 1st Bank Holiday-Lydden Hill

Sorry, I've been invited to the day's racing at Brands Hatch as the guest of one of the drivers and I couldn't resist the chance to nose around the paddock. Maybe next year?

I'm provisionally interested. Will depend on a few other things. If things go well this winter I may even have two 172 Cups to bring along.

Looking for replacement 172 Cup parts

I might be? I genuinely don't know what's particularly good for track use at the moment, still trying to figure things out. Thank you for the offer though. Thanks for the advice. You reckon to steer clear of used or reconditioned bits from Renparts et al then? I've just been looking at...

Looking for replacement 172 Cup parts

What's the best place to look for replacement stock bits for a 172 Cup? I'm looking for brake discs and pads, shocks and springs just now. None of it's urgent, but I like to start doing my research early. On a not entirely related note, what's the most cost-effective route to go down if I'm...

What have you done to your car today ???

Honestly mate with the way small cars are bloating up these days the Twingo's probably closer to being a "proper" Clio than the new Clio is! I've been lumped with a bloody awful Corsa while the insurance company twiddles its thumbs over my Cup and the bloody thing's bigger than an old Astra ffs.

    Up to date kent list

I used to live in Luton Road. I was in a house with a few friends. When we moved in we all thought it was great, because we got quite a large house for very little rent money. Than it started raining... Needless to say, never again.

    Undertray

I would like to replace my engine undertray (I don't really need to, but it's got some damage on it and I'd like to). Since they seem to get damaged or thrown away a lot I'm not holding out much hope of finding an intact one second hand on here, but I would like to know if there is any real...

    172 Cup windscreen

Having checked a few threads on here there seems to have been a little- not much, but a little- confusion over the years but the general consensus seems to be that the Ph2 172 Cup's windscreen is the same as a standard base-model no-electronics-or-electrics Clio 1.2's windscreen and is not...

    Engine/gearbox mounts for a 172 Cup (Ph2)- looking for recommendations/advice

You reckon I'd be OK with the K-Tec "standard" upper mounts and a Powerflex insert & set of bushes? I'm looking at the uprated mounts and they look very nice (and the K-Tec website says they don't vibrate much more) but they are expensive. Also, I'm having trouble identifying the third...
