Its some PLC logic program software (or something) for our manufacturing plant. Massively boring, but massively important.
At the same time, we bought some Siemens software, another lot from Mitsubishi Electric and also AutoCAD LT 2015. All looked presentable and with a quality finish.
I don't...
No physical media
A mere slip of paper with a license key on it
Outer wrapping of a butty bag
Oh, and a HUGE 73MB download for the actual program itself once you unwrap the license key itself.
Somebody, somewhere is A) having a right laugh. And B) - making shedloads of money while doing it!

Realistically John, I'd target your graphics setup for an immediate quick-fix. The excellent nVidia GTX970's are out now and offer plenty of bang for your buck.
You could purchase a new mobo, CPU and memory - but for your Assetto addiction, I would simply revamp your gfx.

Thanks sn00p. In age, it falls into that time period - it might be a little older though. I'll stick to getting it downloaded in the Mac Store on another Mac and burning it to DVD that way. But I will check to see if it has this feature first - sounds like a very (very) good idea imo.

Looks like you can't :( My iPhone 5 is on iOS8 and the MacBook Pro on Mavericks.
Clearly there are significant technical reasons for this - but I just thought it would work due to the cross platform nature of all Apple devices. Worse, is the fact that they connect (or appear to connect) for a...
So my girlfriend picked up her new MacBook Pro on Friday afternoon and I tried to Airdrop a couple of photos to her.
During the failed connects & reconnects, I noticed that this was a widespread (and well known) issue within the Apple community.
Is it really an issue, or is there a workaround...
Hi Jay,
Not as yet - I'll have to download it beforehand on that Mac first then? Just thought I could get some time saved by having the DVD media ready to go.
Cheers,

Do you have a 1*2?
The holes that the spark-plugs go down are perfect catchment traps for water. Even the heat from the engine doesn't evaporate all of the water - leaving the thread on the plugs themselves to occasionally corrode quite badly.
One area I'd definitely cover - also, unbolt your...
Chaps,
I must be missing something obvious, but I appear to be in a chicken and the egg situation?
I have a sales order here with a redemption code for Mountain Lion Single Unit in order to do a clean iMac install with fresh hardware. I thought that I'd be able to log into the store, download...
Probably won't be getting this. I detest games that overly-darken everything.
Stumbling about in the darkness isn't scary. It's just boring and tedious.

I totally agree. And no doubt MS has whole departments of engineers, designers (and importantly) accounts people - literally chomping at the bit to get new software out. They have to justify their salaries somehow.... ;)
But in all seriousness - quick incarnations of an O/S are really only...
I remember playing this on my mate's BBC Micro B. Apparently there were loads of ships - each marked with a little asterix in the back of the manual - that you couldn't have because the 32k memory of the BBC was too small!
I got the C64 version and had the luxury of all the ships - lol! The...
Because the R&D that they put into XP would have been paid off pretty quickly after 2001. And up until the release of Vista - that was realistically the only desktop O/S you would buy for a PC - both in the home and in the office.
Home users would buy their PC's from Currys, Dixons, et al - or...
I'm sure they'd make more money dragging out an O/S over a 10+ year period like Windows XP, than they ever would in creating a new one every two to three years.
An operating system does a job. It's not a flashy gadget like a TV or a mobile that people feel compelled to buy the new version of...
I honestly don't see the rush to get Windows 10 out?
Why, since XP, have they decided to release an SP (or two, iirc in Fista's case) and then bag it off with a new version of O/S? Windows 7 x64 is a cracking operating system and instead of pushing an SP2 or SP3 even, they felt it necessary to...
Should be good! There's a dedicated controller profile within GT6 for both the G25 & G27. I don't bother with the manual gearstick - just the flappy paddles for gears.
I do wish the G25 had a larger number of red buttons like the G27 to assign things to.
I've said that before too - a co-op option would work brilliantly. Especially if there was a game mode where each player could start with 'credits' and spread that between a squad of their choice. Do you want a very small, but powerful squad - or one that's quite numerous with more basic kit?
I...
Oh no - I meant they aren't actually difficult - just a shower of s***s that top themselves when you tazer them.... :P
Yeah - I would really like a follow up. I was impressed at just how much an improvement Enemy Within was, over Enemy Unknown.
With Firaxis pulling the levers behind the scenes...
