dave, i got sick of clios and my final one was a pain in the ass. hadnt been looking for an s4 but this one, with the sheer history of it was a no brainer.
tbh i would have worried about turbos but they were freshly rebuilt a year ago so i'm happy enough that theyre safe :) it is a tad dated...
i have the standard heated full black leather, but ideally after a set of nice recaro pole positions :)
wheels are the b6 ones yeah :)
yeah they do look a little dated i'll give you that. wheels bring it up to date and tempted to cover a few bits in carbon too. interior is a lovely place to be...
Reyes - yeah bloke was on driftworks and the Audi forum. Lot of people know the car hence I went for it
It is addictive yep. Sounds a little like a focus RS but smoother, and boost is awesome, although til I start the new job in jan it does 40 miles each day so I sit on cruise at 70 or so all...
I commute to work along a dual carriageway basically and 99% of my driving is motorway. I'm not gonna rag it around for no reason especially heading to work and back, so it's not as if I'm driving uneconomically
Not had a chance to take any pics or vids yet sadly, and about to go on holiday but will get on the case when I get back :)
Economy seems to be suprisingly good though. Got 200 miles to £30 which ain't too bad :)
Only booted it once on the way home last night, and the speed at which it covers...
I won't get bored for a while I'm sure lol.
Nah not a fan of the CH really. I'm gonna run it as is for a few months just to ensure I won't need to do any work to it, then once I'm more comfortable financially (just about to start new job) then it'll be played with :)
The replacement turbos are only 5 months old Dave, so assuming they'll last a while, seen as theyre only at 40% of their potential :)
Yeah I've been eyeing up some compomotive MOs, private plate would be nice but not really a huge fan of them.
Will get a full health check on it when I'm back...
It doesn't need modding at all, just needs my own stamp on it. Current owner has done a few ring trips in it with absolutely no reliability issues so I'm touching wood that I should have the same success. It's only gonna do 100 miles a week max commuting to work so economy should be ok, and then...
I'd love to go that mental one day but tbh for now i'm gonna be content with 430! Gonna get a proper geo setup and hopefully lose some weight in the wheel department :)
All the belts and important bits have only just been done :) which is nice. Clutch is new too so not gotta worry about that
Tbh working with an ex Audi mechanic and only paying trade rates even the biggest jobs hopefully shouldn't be too much :)
Somehow I don't think it will.
Thing is though, with such a car, what can I do to improve it?
Wheels wise I think I'm just gonna go satin black, and it could probably do with a set of half decent recaros in the front, but otherwise I can think much else to do!
It has the full Bose upgrade...
i'm not paying a lot, as in wayyyyyyyyyyyyy under £10k lol
its about 4ish to 60 apparently, but has £15k in bills for all the work too :)
fuel wise apparently if driven with a gentle foot i should see 28-30 though, which is nice :)
somehow i dont think i'll get bored of this one!
with the clio finally on its way i've bought something a little special.
always had a soft spot for these, but this one came up and is a little bit special!!!!
spec includes:
rs4 k04 turbos
custom intercooler
uprated manifolds
porsche cayenne brakes
and a fair bit more. power figures are a...
Just ordered my 600d from jessops :) through a mate who manages a store the body is costing me £462 with the cash back on top so £412 and then getting the tamron 17-85 for 60 quid off too :) can't wait
:)
Remember you'll get the £50 cash back on you 550 through jessops
Having owned both I found my 106 more planted to be honest. Had bilstein group n on mine and it was cammed. Awesome little car and sad it went really :( needed rust work sorting and it ha a few other issues
I owned the above members rebuilt units for a few months.
Work better than the original set I had on the last one! Tbh I'd ask for custom damper settings if they're being done too!
find somewhere that does Tyreseal.
we do it at work and its the same kinda idea as tyreweld but lasts the life of the tyre. just a gunk that activates the moment theres a puncture so you never even know you had a flat. then just change the tyre when its on the legal limit.
seems pretty good...
