Im not quite following all this, but Yoz if youre talking about the 172 turbo conversions, K-Tecs is the Mexican kit, BBs is their own ground-up design, similar in spec to the valver conversion but with better performance due to the greater potential of the 172 lump over the old F7P.
I vote...
LOL Im a Suffolk boy now, although I have to get the passport out to cross the Norfolk border twice a day.
Another thing its been doing recently is when you start it up, the red charging light stays on until you rev the engine. If you just leave it idling on the choke, the light stays on...

Ive just finished putting a big stereo into my Scirocco - a JBL 80.4 four channel amp running the fronts and rears, with a JBL 300.1 monobloc running the sub. All up, puts out around 300W rms. Peak current draw is around 70 A
Got a brand new battery in...
Id say the valver was the best. Remember a hot hatch is not just all about the handling. Its a whole package - fast enough to outrun most shopping cars, nimble around corners, practical as an everyday car, has to be a top of the line small car, affordable insurance, a relatively large engine...
Difficult to compare, as the majority of GTTs - or at least the ones that whose drivers will be up for a burn around town - are modded. And unlike a valver, you dont need to spend a lot of money to get a significant return.
D-reg beige Ford Fiesta 1.0 Popular. Superb, no stereo, no hole for a stereo, no head rests, no demister, no nothing, but by God that thing could jump hump back bridges like nothing else on earth!
I didnt buy it myself, it was my dads, but he bought it for me so I wouldnt wreck his own motor...
My wifes got a T-Sport and its wicked. OK its not a proper hot hatch, but IMHO it looks mental and it goes pretty well. Its never broken down, the dealer service at our local place is top notch - on the very last day of its warranty period it came back from service with loads of odds and sods...
Ive been running a second car for the last couple of years because my Clios been off the road for this and that...first a Fiat Tipo 1.4, then a Nissan 200SX S13, now a VW Scirocco 1.8. But my Clio still rules.
I used to get 250 miles to a tank with a bit of luck. But dont buy a valver if you want fuel economy, and expect it to use a litre of oil every 1000 miles. At least it runs on normal 95 RON unleaded unlike a lot of modern cars. An 80k miler could be alright - cambelt and clutch could have been...
Best bet on a valver or Williams is to use the standard airbox which is actually a very good design (think about it: is there any way that you can see of physically fitting a bigger box in there or getting it any closer to the throttle body?)
Just stick any aftermarket filter element in there...
Best bet is to do something Ive done on my last few sets of plates, 3/4 height but full width. That way they look tasty in a subtle way yet no-one can quite put their finger on whats wrong with them.
Thats a quality time Tom, and from a fettled Fiat Coupe I can actually believe it as well. The reason why I say under 7 seconds is that its not proper timing, just a stopwatch job, but a lot of the tests it came out at more like 6. Best to round up though just to be on the safe side. Plus I...
I tell you what, I wouldnt mind that as long as its no more pricey for the day than a normal RWYB. One things for sure, Saturday RWYB is where its at. I went to one last year and it was wicked, like it used to be years ago before you got so many cars turning up you couldnt get a decent run...
Theres been a lot of us chewing the cud over 0-60 times, 0-100, quarter mile ETs and terminal speeds, outright power, power/weight etc and the inter-relationship between all of them.So just out of interest, what are everyones 60-100 times? You can use whatever gears you want that you think will...
Oh and btw, if anyone dares flash me when I overtake, or even worse, actually accelerates to try and tailgate me, I dip my mirror, put my rear foglight on and let out a big bang/flash from the exhaust. That usually sorts them out and they back off LOL
Anyone who flashes if you ovetake is a tw*t. Plain and simple. They do it to everyone who dares to overtake them while they dawdle along at 40mph on a 60mph A or B-road. The reason why is because they honestly believe that overtaking is wrong. The highway code says that all drivers must...
Standard valvers will do 0-100 in 21-23 seconds. Standard Willys 2-3 seconds quicker and can sneak in just under 20 seconds. Remember these cars were built in the early 90s and at that time, those sort of performance figures were pretty hot. Nowadays they are put in the shade by things like the...
We used to always have Renaults when I was little. We had a couple of Renault 12s, one after the other, then an unfortunate interlude with a Datsun Cherry, then back to a Renault 25. I seem to recall that at that time, Renaults had the T first. TL, TR, TS stuff like that. Theyve just turned the...
Id say 15.5 to 100 is a bit optimistic for a car that does 0-60 in the 6s. Remember that its not really doing 100 until it says at least 105 on the clock and that final 5mph can easily take another couple of seconds. plus its easy to not start the clock until you feel like youre moving. You need...
Sounds good, but just out of interest, how much is the Recaro option going to be? Heres an alternative for anyone who wants Recaros in their 172 or 182 - get a pair of Recaros and subframes yourself out of the Demon Tweeks catalogue and fit them.
Well in the end even though I could find 80A AGU fuses exist, I couldnt find anywhere to get them from, 60A seems to be the max I could get. Plus my existing AGU fuse holder only takes 8 gauge and not 4 gauge so Id have to get a new one of those. In the end I just ordered a 100A circuit breaker...
If the spring comes out it can be put in, but if you lose it, its time for a new hand brake. Just dont lose the spring and dont let it come off! Best way is when you remove the old handbrake cover, grasp the handbrake lever all round so that nothing can drop out. Have your new cover ready to go...
Yeah I hear what youre saying about cost. This time of year its a nightmare getting stuff cheap, cos trade places are shut and you end up having to go to Halfords. Bloody crooks. In the end I found a Maplins and they sell exactly the same stuff for a quarter of the price. Got the 5 metres of 4...
