Just wondering if you get any more 'lock-ups' with the extra braking force and lack of abs? Do you need to change anything else apart from the caliper/carrier? Is there any more pedal travel than with standard calipers
I'm planning on upgrading mine in the near future so would love to know the...
Recently changed my wheels from turini's to these to save a little bit of weight, Cup is currently stripped at the rear awaiting the next phase of weight reduction. Currently sitting at exactly 1000 kg's with the air-con still to come out
Again sorry for the poor quality pics, Iphone...
Terrible mate and I'm not one for driving quick in the wet
After driving two seperate clio's on michelin pilot sport 2's I can honestly say nothing feels the same on the road for a dry and wet tyre. Yes they're expensive but for good reason.
I've never driven on road/track tyres though i.e...
Re: Clio 172 Cup Project!!
Really enjoyed reading this little project thread. Nice to see something mildly modified to give great results in all the right places, touch more power, better brakes and great suspension.
There is only one thing you're missing which will really improve the...
Parada's are s**t, I thought I'd give them another opportunity to impress me on a different chassis (clio) than when I tried them previously. I used to own the black 2118's and was glad to see the back of them because of those tyres alone, not so good in the dry, terrible in the wet.
You...
Looks tidy mate, crying out for some smaller profile tyres and more stance.
Get that pole position sat lower and get that 'other mod' fitted and it will look awesome
I was told you couldnt fit those seats in a ph2 clio.
Think I'll be getting on the phone to Capitol seating, ordering some frames and looking out for a pair of 197/200 seats
I've had a trophy and cup, you can hustle the cup along the backroad and it will maybe drop a couple of MPH through a corner compared to the trophy.
The thing about the trophy is it doesnt feel dangerous, it keeps it's composure and when on the limit you can really feel it working underneath...
I did once see 152 in my ph1 172 going down a decent hill but didnt take too long to get there.
MPG is better with the ph1 box but the rpm change between 4th and 5th when flat out takes you nearly out of the power band
Not wanting to sound like a boring b*****d but none of these meets have nothing to do with why we're here in the first place, apart from karting really
Re: JDM Y0 - My new project
Well worth trying the maxogen if you're planning on adding management and getting it mapped.
I've been hearing a bit of bad press about tdi north but not sure whether its true or not regarding their mapping etc
Would give it an oil change and replace filters, I'm taking mine off the road over the winter and will be doing similar. Maybe change the box oil while you're on if its never been done before, that way you know its good to go.
Re: JDM Y0 - My new project
I'd rather have an ITG maxogen on it mate, the tegiwa does have a slight power increase over the maxogen but it doesn't create as much torque as the maxogen. Had first hand experience of it on my bro's type r. Tdi north said it had one of the strongest torque figures...
Me and my good mate popped along to a local weigh bridge to see what the differences were.
We both had similar fuel loads (Around 10 litres) and nothing in the car, everything standard.
His without air con was 1020kg
Mine with air con was 1040kg
So theres 20kg somewhere or another enclosed...
I feel your pain mate, I replaced the engine on my trophy, let a specialist work on it and for one reason or another It went bang again, I'm now trophy'less and lost over £7k.
I wont let anyone else apart from Fred work on the car in the future, birchdown also have a good reputation.
