Any chance someone could stick together a guide to fitting these? I would certainly be interested if I felt confident of being able to fit them myself.
I'm not sure on the odds of it failing, but I would be gutted if I put it off 3 months and then it broke! You're probably not going to save much money getting the MOT and belt at the same time, might as well get it done now.
Well the first thing to do is avoid Arnold Clark. None of the branches I asked even knew what an aux belt was, or told me it needed changed every 72k or 5 years (the previous owner has probably been advised this, hence it hasn't been done). Parks seemed more on the ball. Can't remember the price...
Another V8 RWD drive bargain is the MG ZT 260. 4.6L Mustang and can be had for around 6k, book was £32k!! The whole drive train and engine is designed for a supercharger as they were going to bring out a ZT 380, so a supercharger bolts straight on with no fuss and gives you a reliable ~420bhp.
Hey, who took me off?!

I spoke to Fastchip, you can buy 1 device and multiple licenses. You can switch the licenses round as you please, so if there were a few of us we could feasibly buy 1 box + whatever amount of licenses. I think I'd rather have the device to keep though, I don't know about anyone else? If there...
I think the official spec is 105nm, over torquing excessively is not a good idea as you're asking for a fractured wheel nut. I always re-do mine if it's been in at a garage as they seem to whack them up silly tight.
I'm planning to get one in the new year and I'm near you mate. I don't think it's terribly complicated, so you should be fine. Assuming I don't turn my car into a brick I'll help you out if you like.
In my experience, a standard MX-5 isn't that quick. I think they are designed to be fun, whilst not necessarily being devastatingly fast. I did have one surprised MX-5 owner come over to me in a pit lane after a session and ask what kind of engine was in my Clio, I suspect he thought I would be...
Remove 2 bolts from underside of the car, where slam panel attaches to the bumper.
Remove front wheel arches (just pop rivets)
Remove the 2 bolts from behind the bumper inside wheel arch (1 either side)
Unclip fog lamps.
With a bit of force and wiggling the bumper should detach from the wings...
Thanks for everyone's advice/opinions, at least I know what it is now. I'll decide what to do with it when I take another look at the car, probably next weekend. To be honest, since it hasn't caused me any "ticking" issues, I think I'll just seal the crack and refit it.
After a small bump, I have damage to my bumper and wing which I'm going to fix myself. My question is, if I purchase new or second hand panels and send them to get sprayed, will they match the rest of the car ok? The car is about 3 1/2 years old. I've been told that given the age of the car, and...
I have a pug 405 1.9 turbo, bosch pump. It was very hard to start on engine oil, and it hunted a lot. I did seem to have a bit more torque though.
Traces of water might cause internal corrosion over time, but I don't think that's something you will lose sleep over!
I had small bump the other day, and I've taken the bumper and wing off as they're damaged. The corner in the pic has slight deformation, but the black tank thing behind it has a small crack in it. I'm not sure what it is, can someone enlighten me?
I can't comment on the Clio engine, but engines such as the XUD have long proven track records of running unmodified on high concentrations of veg oil. I personally have added a coolant based heat exchanger to mine purely because it's a cheap and easy modification. The way Rob drives his cars...
You would have to dewater WVO anyway (or you should be ;)), and I found engine oil easier to filter than WVO due to it having no fat content. Find a place that keeps their engine oil in a large tank. It will have been collected over a very long time so should be very well settled. You could take...
He does not have to process it into biodiesel in this instance, he can run on straight filtered oil, possibly mixed with a small percentage of diesel or petrol in the colder weather. Although if red did reach 47ppl, it would be attractive when you consider you drop about 15% MPG when running on...
Well the arse has fallen out of the biodiesel industry since the price of fossil diesel has tumbled. A lot of commercial WVO collectors are going out of business, so I would think you have leverage on anyone trying to sell it. To be honest though 35ppl is not a bad price.
I tried some waste...
