Bigger diameter wheels are heavier. Even with the same width wheel and the same width and diameter wheel, if you have 16" wheels, or worse 17", they wheel tyre comination is heavier than a 15" wheel.
What that hurts most is ride.
It also hurts acceleration, but only by a very small amount...
What they do in racing classes where treaded tyres are required is to shave them down to the minimum amount of tread allowed. That reduces the squirming of the tread blocks, which generates heat, and can overheat the tyres. But in normal road use with correct pressures tyres shouldn't overheat...
I can't trust the computer. It seems to count the amount of fuel it thinks has been used to figure out how much must be left, and it gets it wildly wrong. It is both inaccurate and inconsistent. I've seen it out by 7-8 litres.
But I can trust the warning light totally. It comes on every time...
My first instinct was to consider it dangerous too. Because a shell-type seat doesn't have anywhere designed into it to be strong enough to bolt a seatbelt to. But when I read your post again you didn't bolt it to the seat, you bolted it to the side mount of the seat. That's the dodgy part, but...
Mine does that.
You mean that's a "fault"?
I thought it was just a "Renault".
Next you'll be taking it back and complaining that there's rattles in the dashboard.
But, seriously, the rubber bushes in the suspension do that.
1. 4-pot calipers are going to feel different. They are going to reduce the line/pedal pressure required to get any given amount of retardation.
2. the previous arguments I saw were about the merits of 4-pot calipers and standard-sized disks. People were suggesting that that would give them...
The 197 is looking better every day?
Ford found this problem a number of years ago. If it had competing designs for a new model, one just like the previous model and one far more radical, and they showed them to a group of existing Ford owners to see which they'd buy, they always chose the one...
Yes, it is cheaper to build your own PC.
Except for Windows.
Manufacturers get it so much cheaper than you can buy it that that single cost element destroys all the savings of building your own.
Which only leaves the fact that if you build one yourself you can choose what you consider to...
My motherboard has a setting in the BIOS that sets the SATA controllers to emulate PATA controllers. Set it that way and the two SATA controllers just look like a third and fourth PATA disk controllers to Windows. It saves all that stuffing around associated with with installing Windows on a...
Presumably you failed science at school?
How fast air is or isn't flowing past a person affects how cold they feel because they sweat, and wind causes sweat to evaporate, and when it evaporates it has to absorb heat from the skin, and that's what the person feels.
How fast air is flowing...
I have a black one, but its not actually the colour I like best.
When you're young you want to attract attention. Then you grow up and realise you can get away with more if you don't.
I got black because its the least conspicuous colour from a distance. If a cop with a speed gun is hiding...
What would a remap do that the ECU wouldn't do itself when it detected knock? How is there any difference between the power of an engine that has the timing backed off a couple of degrees because its been remapped that way to prevent knock, and an engine that's had the timing backed off a couple...
You can have a towbar on a Clio Sport.
You just can't tow with it.
You can put a bike rack on it.
But you can't carry an MX bike because the maximum weight you can put on it is 50 kgs.
I got this bullsh*t along the lines of "prove you told us you wanted to tow with it ... we'll testify...
Its because the front suspension isn't simply a Macpherson strut like Clios with the axis of the strut being the steering axis. The steering axis is a lot closer to vertical so the brakes have to be mounted further out and that makes a deeper dish wheel necessary.
Put it in the fridge. It'll keep longer.
Do not put it in the freezer unless its fully charged.
(At this point you are asking yourself whether that was a joke, or a serious comment, right.)
If you are merely asking how long before it goes flat, that's a completely different question. The...
My idea is that its not in the rear brakes its in the front ones.
I'd wonder if it wasn't something to do with the fact that you worked on them recently. I have no idea of your competence and carefulness, but if I did something, then a problem occurred, the first question I'd ask myself is...
Psycho is I understand correct. This has come up on this forum before. one of the Renault experts explained it.
Here's my recollection. I'm not an expert on automotive ECUs, so it may not be precisely correct, but this is the general idea.
There is map in flash ROM that only changes if it is...
The ABS is designed to cope with loss of traction under acceleration. It reduces engine power if either front wheel is spinning. So your acceleration is limited by the amount of grip the wheel with the least amount of grip has. An LSD in the same circumstance would transfer the power to the...
If anyone's fitting 4-pot calipers for looks, well, fair enough.
If you're fitting them thinking they work better, that you somehow get better braking and/or better fade resistance you really need to ask someone other than the salesman who is selling them to you.
Its a matter of piston area...
A question.
If you just put them on the front, and they actually work better than the standard calipers - ie, more retardation for the same pressure because they've got two sets of pistons applying twice the pressure to the pads - doesn't that wreck the front-rear brake balance and cause the...
There's nothing that you can do with individual throttle bodies that you couldn't do with a single-throttle body manifold.
Back in the days of carburettors separate twin-throat sidedraughts were fundamentally better than a single carb sitting on top of a manifold because the fuel was added to...
Renault has an announced a diesel RenaultSport Megane, the dCI 175. You can even have the Cup suspension.

Its got the grunt, and its got better fuel consumption that the petrol version. And since the front end of the mk3 Clio is...
There's nothing wrong with that wheel that any alloy wheel specialist couldn't fix. Unless the alloy's cracked they can fix it.
I know, I've got one that couldn't be fixed that was ruined by going through a pothole on a highway that had no speed limit in the middle of the Australian outback...
Air is forced in through the grille at considerable pressure depending on speed, then through the radiator, and it has to exit somewhere. The only place it can go is down under the car, which is already a high pressure area.
On cars with a front-hinged bonnet if you leave the bonnet unlatched...
About the time Renault went from fitting 195s to 205s they also went to wheels with 3.5mm more offset outwards. That's a good indication what you need: 3-5 mm.
