They are basically a four wheel version of Mini Moto.. do around 37 mph standard depending on weight (Quick when your on it trust me!) With tune up bits capable of around 60 mph
Mate finally got his MK1 red 172, really nice motor and completly stock, well for now!

Yeah fair point ben as stated am always going to be bias as for oppinion of cars. Thing is looking at trader seems that can pick a mint Mk1 up for 6 where as Mk2 minter would really need to be at least 1500 more for right miles etc. May aswell spend the extra on mods!
Do some home work first. Obviously goes without saying check the car out properly. P1s are renowned for engine rebuilds at roughlt 60k so beware if coming close to mileage and not yet been done!
My mate has one and to be honest he has had the normal probs but loves it, as stated horse for corsas!
Has anyone doen this? Do door cards have to be removed to get at fixing inside?

My oppinion is def Mk1 Mk2s are newer but lets more around. They have dropped in price faster that then Mk1 did and will drop even more next year when Clio RS comes out.
As for interior I am bias but Mk1 is better, dont like silver inserts in Mk2 and hate big bit around clocks, also seats...
A mate of mine is looking at getting a 172 in next few weeks.
Some advice he is unsure on whether to get a MK1 or Mk2. He is thinking on a mint Mk1 possibly in the red colour and spending remainder of money on choice parts. Obviously Mk2;s are similar in price but he would prefer a minter MK1...
To be fair wouldnt go open induction kit. Go for something like BMC so good cold air feed. With exhaust should notice power gain, BHP depends on individual car, condition etc. BMC way forward;)
As stated previously call Renault customer services stating they did not fix the problem previously ultimately cuasing you to purchase part not needed. An import will only come with 2 years warranty so no luck there. You will be able to take out extended warranty as long as you dont state a...
