so then I need some active crossovers too?
My MB Quart speaker crossovers actually have a high and low input on them. I wonder if that would be any better than just running one input into the lows? I could put the 150 channels into the low and the 75s into the high.
Almost a bi-wire thing I...
I had the same problem buying mine... I actually ordered the blue one first and then changed it the next day to black!
Youd think choosing a colour would be a simple thing but it certainly isnt - or at least it wasnt for me!
I decided not to go for silver right from the start because I...
The amp has been ordered (450/4) but I thought Id hold off on the speakers to see if anyone else had actually tried a set of the JLs.
Im also hoping one of the online stores will get the new range of the MB Quart premiums in at some point soon so I can see how much they are!
Im tempted by...
Anyone got any of them? XR525-CXi to be exact!
Im just wondering how they compare to the likes of the MB Quart Premium range.
I was going for MB Quart in the rear to match the ones I already have up front (same crossovers - neater looking install !!!) but theyve changed the coaxial range now...
I keep finding that when taking my 172 up to the limit - where the green change gear now! light comes on - I cant take it out of gear to change up.
I stick my foot on the clutch (as you do!) and attempt to move the gear stick but its just not having any of it! It doesnt budge an inch - I have...
Generally speaking, subs are 4ohms - single or dual voice coil.
You cant doing anything with the resistance on a single voice coil one, but with a dual, you can make it 2ohms or 8ohms.
Most amps when bridged will only run double of what they are stable at for 1 channel.
So for me, my 4ch...
Dont you have a couple of bolts at the back of the boot where that plastic lump is and the ISO child seat hooks are?
I took one of those off and stuck it under there. They tighten down really well so youll get a good contact.
But this was sitting on my very level drive! Ill check the dipstick when I finish work. I hope its not leaking out all over the place!
Ive got it booked in for next week anyway to have the oil changed and a new filter. I figure its run in enough now and probably needs it!
MB Quart PWD304 - 12" premium range - or something like that!
Sounds ok, yeah...but...Im running it at 8ohms at the minute coz my current 4channel amp wont bridge to 2ohms. I now have a jl audio 500/1 on order so Ill let you know how it sounds when that turns up!
I just got the sub box version. It sits on the passenger side.
Yes, they use velcro to attach it...it doesnt seem to move around and thats with some pretty harsh cornering!
Im making a false floor to sink the amps into. When its all done, this will also help keep it in place.
The box pulls...
Ive been in contact with Dave, he said to tell you all that the logo will be reduced in size by 50 / 60%
Also, he might be able to do a 2 piece rear - instead of whats displayed in the picture at the top of this thread (a 1 piece rear!).
Mine already had a massive hole in the actual car. The bonnet release gromet also seems to be home to the alarm wires. Even with my 4AWG cable, there is still plenty of room!
LOL!!!
Im just about to order one....but to whom do I give my hard earnt cash?!
Ive ordered some bits from caraudiodirect before and their service is pretty sh*te. Ive been waiting 2 weeks for some MB Quart coaxial speakers for the rear and havent heard a single thing from them.
Russ has...
Russ,
Ive been reading many great things about the JL Audio 500/1.
I think that is the one im going to go for.
Can you find out a decent price for it for me please? :-)
Cheers.
Try the bloke up by the grange pub (near macdonalds) in chelmsford.
Hes right on the roundabout (where they hold the big boot fair) as youre about to go down onto the A12.
Say I was to give you about £500 - 600 to spend on a mono amp...which one would you buy?
You want the very best you can get for that money :)
Off the top of my head, theres the Rockford 1001bd, JL Audio 500/1, Directed 1100d.
Anyone had any first hand experience of the above amps? Does any...
For my setup, I probably only need a 0.5 farad one really, but to me, thats like buying a bmw 316. You just dont do it!
If its going to be done, I do it properly....even if it does skint me :-|
I too like the blue display, but I also quite like the green supports the Fusion one comes with...
Yep, that was indeed me :)
The green of the Fusion means it will stand out and look cool, but then at the same time I the more refined look of the audiobahn ones.
Hmmmm choices choices!
I looking at buying myself a capacitor to finish off my new install.
Ive got two in mind:
Audiobahn ACAP1Q (http://www.evilice.co.uk/product.asp?intProdID=16510http://www.evilice.co.uk/product.asp?intProdID=16510) - The picture is wrong - its actually this one...
Ill tell you what I would be interested in - some foam tape type stuff to use on all the new wires Ive just stuck behind the dash because of my new ice install - to stop them rattling around.
I did mine on saturday to lay some rca cables down the centre of the car.
I had to remove two black rubber bungs from under the car which then exposed the two nuts holding on one runner. Using the slightly longer socket from my socket set, I managed to get them undone.
There are two more in...
