I know yours is a valver, but I think all the ratios are the same bar 5th which I beleive is longer in a Williams to make up for the lower rev limit. 2nd gear should be the same between valver and Willy, but the Williams needs to shift earlier due to the lower rev limit.
Yup, bargin much cheapness from Halfords (£7.99). I thought that the dipped beam on the mk1 was some sort of fancy bulb (it looks it from the outside), but its exactly like the pic above, but pushed inside the fancy looking bulb. What a con, eh?!
Can anyone confirm whether this is the correct bulb for the normal driving headlight (ie: not the full beam bulb):

Type 9005...
Anyone know how much the expensive looking bulb in the mk1 172 (and other twin headlight 98>01 Clios) costs?
Can I order on off the net anywhere rather than being fleeced by Renault?
Cheers.
Most local exhaust centres will knock one up for about £40. The Williams decat pipe is really basic, just a bit of pipe. The lambda sensor is in the down pipe i think, so no hassle there either.
Charlie Browns lowered my car. I assume they did the bias valve as the braking feels exactly the same as before (eg: damned good!).
They charged £40 for a couple of hours labour and £20 to do the tracking I think.

This is happening to my HT leads! Nick Hill has re-arranged them so they should make the 36k service, but he said that they had been installed very badly at the factory.
Yeah, theyre not bad tires. Def. better than the Contis. And really really hard wearing too. About 30 1/4 mile runs and 9000 miles on this set, and still 4mm on the front.
Yeah, I see more 172 MK2s in silver than any other type of 172 where I live. I suppose it kind of depends what car sales places are around. There was a time for about 6 months where a local importer sold only 172 MK2s in Silver, and now theyre everywhere!
Having said that, I do see a fair few...
I think the choice is more between what sort of chip you want. A Dastek Unichip will set you back lots, but can be fine tuned to your cars other mods for good gains.
If you have no other mods, the best bet is a Group N ECU. This is the chip that RSport sell and Hillpower also sell this chip...
You should always keep your distance from the car in front! As far as I am away, it is the responsibility of the person behind not to run into the person in front.
A lot more than 300 have been sold in the UK. Email Renaults Cusomter Services, theyre usually pretty helpful with facts and figures (just no good if something is wrong with your car!)

The inlet manifold is a bit of a pain to fit and will take someone who knows what they are doing about three hours. The engine has to be unbolted and moved upwards to give access to the alternator belt (needs to be slackened off) and a lot of parts come off the top of the engine.
All these...
Aha....are you the guy who had cams and a chip of Nick last week? If so, he said your car was "an animal" and the quickest 172 hed been in. Nice :D And welcome, btw.
