Not many pics but a brief update
Had to wait for my mom to go shopping before I could nab the car and go to the unit, was 3 before I finally got there.
Drained box oil, swapped both driveshafts and tie rods
drilled holes for top mounts and fitted them and the brace
loosely fitted rod ends...
Saturdays progress...
Arrived at the unit for around 12, later than I wanted but I'm never on time for s**t so expected I guess ?
Literally got stuck at the 1st hurdle, shouldn't have even been a hurdle but it well and truly got me
This one spacer bolt was well and truly stuck, resulting...
Forgot to update
I think *touch wood* the leak is fixed, and I hope I never have to touch those power steering lines ever again in my life :ROFLMAO:
Got some serious knocking going on up front now, gradually been getting worse and worse.
Everyone seems to say its lower arm knocking, but...
Thursday at work I tried to get the PAS line repaired, welded it up once, tested it, still leaked. Welded around it again, still leaked but less, ran out of time to do it again.
This was the original bit before welding, weather that was a crack I don't know as I didn't bother testing before...
Yeah, we swapped the bushes at my old place, the inner ARB ones, just with OE stuff and it was a right pain in the arse (MOT advisory) and that was on a ramp with loads of people to help.
I'll be doing these on my own on my back with f**k all space, can't wait :ROFLMAO:
Yeah the top mounts...
PAS line removed, took me 3 hours, quicker than the 1st time but still, nightmare.
Hopefully have it welded up at work tomorrow (today) and I can start putting it back together.
Doing the Powerflex rack bushes whilst I'm there, one less job to do when I do the rest of the front...
Guess what... that blasted cup PAS line I fitted is leaking
Think its cracked on the join, the leaks lower than the thread for the switch... So off it comes again, going to try welding it up at work.
We did a repair on a PAS line last week for the garage over the road, worked fine so...
Yep, mine were a bit of a mess, had gone real soft.
It made a difference on the drive back, just felt firmer. But wont really be tested for a while, cant wait to see the difference at Anglesey from the last time I went, especially with all the front bits going on.
Took me hours, but that's...
Forgot to mention, I bought the rubber boot kit along with the PMS ARB, don't waste your time if you're thinking about getting them, I managed to get the top ones on but it turned out impossible to fit the bottom ones without cutting a part off, when I did manage to get them on, I turned the...
Funny, the morning after my last post I got a reply from Ben at String Theory ?
Aaaanyway...
Some bits turned up this week
Really need a ramp, doing this s**t on my back is killing me off, feel absolutely ruined this morning haha.
Everyone bangs on about cutting and drilling and burning...
Cheers for the love guys ❤
All painted now, not the best finish but will sort that out before I fit it
This weekend I shall be doing all rear suspension related parts
Sooo shock top bushes, rear beam bushes and rear ARB
Whilst this may have some minor effect on tracking, should be fine...
Shot out the house just after posting it to get to the paint place before it closed at 12
Have a can of Scarab green ready to paint it
Pics later
From pattern to reality in 2x dinner breaks
Do I paint it or just be lazy and leave as is?
Like the idea of body coloured but am I doing too much body coloured stuff?
Sooo actually did something I said I was going to do today, now there's a 1st :ROFLMAO:
Removed some unneeded bits from the gearbox mount, just battery supports I believe.
Made cardboard template
Will try get it cut out & bent up at work tomorrow/Friday.
Wheel... have to wait and see ;)
Been doing a few bits and bobs on the clio and spending some pennies.
Test fit the ally bonnet as I wasn't sure it was still straight given it was creased.
Got the worst of it out, and seems to still be the right shape. Lot of flex in these ally bonnets though.
Need to get the paint...
I've always rocked up in the afternoon (cause I'm lazy) and always been fine.
Several reasons for afternoon arrival - lie in (best one), better menu, more chilled out, don't have to pay, always a space, more of a steady flow of cars coming and going, less guilt having a pint.
If you haven't...
I'd be down for going if I actually get to meet @Dr Jekyll :ROFLMAO:
Have tried to make it there atleast once a month. Currently on target, need a June visit to keep it up.
Forgot to post Anglesey pics...
Honestly, what a great day I had.
So, the trackday was a 30th birthday pressie off a few of my mates. They had booked me a garage too, thought it was kinda pointless at 1st, however, it was honestly the best thing they could have done.
Without that garage, I...
Done some buys
Fresh OE Track rods and front bearings for the new hubs
PMS solid top mounts and strut brace
Powerflex everything as soon as I've more money, then rear ARB I think
In Wales atm, Anglesey tomorrow, hopefully I don't kill it
Got sent these today from Autosolo the other...
Not done a great deal to this lately. But I do basically have a clio van now...
Made some removable boarding for the boot, constantly lugging tool boxes n stuff too and from the unit was taking its toll, especially without the spare wheel in, couldn't put anything over that area.
This just...
Dewalt and Mac Tools are the same, so batteries can be swapped, good for car and DIY bits then.
Milwaukee are supposed to be very good too, I almost went with them until the Mac tools dealer offered me great deal on impact guns.
Condition of those headlights reflects the condition of the rest of the car, from what I could see.
Steering wheel was amazing, probably re-trimmed though. Ive never seen a mint OE one so I don't actually know what they look without half of it stuck to your hand.
I looked over this car, pissed me off that the bumper was falling off it.
Then realising it'd been used on track in a previous life and returned to standard lol....
Grabbed some pics
*waits for flickr upload*
PH1 bumpers never fit right but jesus... atleast get that right if you're...
Mad how much Stanley Black and Decker own (theres a brand ud probs not heard in a while lol)
I've got a little draper 3/8 one I've had for years, always been fine.
Need a 1/2 one really though for the bigger bits/more leverage.
Halfords look decent, always tempted by Snapon/Mac though even...
