Gave it a clean and grabbed a pic of the brembos behind the wheel.
Also headed over to Caffeine & Machine, what a mega place. Will be there a lot this year I think.
Also, bolt on spacer worked loose... could've been fun had I not stopped
Line fixed
Everything is now plumbed in and working, I think. Got me home ok anyway, no noises or obvious leaks.
Will check over everything in a few days, need to touch the caliper up too
Uneven wear on fronts...
Will grab a pic of them behind the wheel once I've cleaned it, gotten...
Started doing brakes yesterday, everything was all going so well until I got to NSF ?
So, brakes have been pretty fucked for a while, still worked but have been on their last legs.
Rears were long gone, defo got my moneys worth haha.
Fronts were different, Had a vibration from the front...
Rubber was fairly fucked around the edges, where the ally had corroded, it expanded and pushed the rubber all out of shape. Else I'd have considered keeping it.
Not really done anything, gave it an oil change a bit back. Battling with the usual idol problems that keep coming back to haunt me on...
Been a little quiet in here, not done a lot.
Still not removed the last bits of the air-con stuff (heater bits) but I did change my dipped and main beam's for Osram nightbreaker lasers and LED interior lights.
Can see inside and out now, which is handy haha.
Also, Buy a prima racing exhaust...
Did a buy
Ally Bonnet, one that hasn't been ruined by aero-catches, Rarity nowadays it seems.
Bot a slight crease in it, hoping we can sort it at work.
Will be being painted when I get both bumpers done and maybe some other bits blown in.
Collected from Chesterfield so seemed rude not to go...
Well... this will have been the slow starter issue
Had the perfect length of cable left over and some lugs from the battery relocation.
Better than it's ever been now I think.
Didn't get anything else done, busy weekend being lazy.
Forgot to update this, was shattered after finishing Sunday and wanted to catch the F1
Got it all done, besides a few teething problems it seems.
Got it all bolted up, realised the belt I got with the kit was for a non-pas setup.
ECP saved the day on a Sunday and came through with the belt...
This car has been a bellend to me today, Not happy with her haha.
Started the morning, made my square washer, upper engine mount all done ?
On to the gearbox mount, top nut was just twisting the rubber so I got angry and took the entire mount off the box/car to do it.
Sorted it though...
I'm just sanding down a normal washer man.
Probably wouldn't move, you'd assume if it was an issue Vibra would supply you with one, but still... rather it be there just encase than not.
So, waaaay back in 2015 when I had the belts done by @MicKPM he advised I changed the upper engine mount.
Prooobably should have listened to him ?
And this... really renault?
Both gone anyway, new one in, kinda.
Not happy with the possibility of movement in these mounts, with the...
Didn't get half as much done this B/H weekend as I'd planned, did a few bits though.
Saturday @Dr Jekyll took a photo of my clio
I was inspired to get a move on and get some trackdays done, Maybe doing one in Dec, will see.
Sunday came, it rained, Sunday went.
Monday came, it wasn't...
No shorts rule makes me mad ? It'll ruin my then 9 week streak of wearing only shorts.
Hoping to go out as a passenger on the day though.
Want to see what some different setups are like out on track. Turbo/ITB/LSD etc etc to help me come to a decision as what to go with on my own.
May buy...
Vibra mount top washer made, ended up with 2 for some reason ?
Selling a pair of Vibra-technics mounts if anyone wants um? Will get an advert up later.
Finished the battery tray ?
Placement plan, as far to the middle and forward inbetween the wheels as possible, whilst being in the...
Holes for where the rear seat-belt came through the plastic trim piece.
Obv I've no longer got the belts as no seats, but i have gaping holes in the trim lol
Any ideas on re-painting it? Not sure on the best route to take.
Spend ages taping it up/cutting around it then spraying?
Touch up pen?
Very very fine brush?
May use a Porsche colour ?
Friend is doing the wheel for me, not expecting it to be perfect as she is learning still. But I'm confident...
Another small update
Sabelt wheel arrived, previous owner thought attempting to paint the Sabelt logo with nail varnish was a sound idea. Execution was erm.. well....
So 1st thing I've done is remove that mess
Boss came with 2 sets of bolts, wasn't happy with either so have just ordered...
Basically only coming to CSF to see this, best get a move on chap ??
The amount of times i look at mine and consider doing the same... i just dunno what to do with it paint wise.
Ull see why when you see it at CSF lol.
Great progress though dude, its gonna be possibly the best 182 on here...
Still undecided on colours for it tbh, yellow stitching to match the yellow sabelt?
Yellow centre line srip at top?
Stick to silver stitching like my current?
All black leather?
Perf on side panels?
Who knows? haha
Was raining, got bored, designed battery tray.
Will probably make a few...
Another very small update...
Bought some Vibra-technics mounts off a chap on here, they were painted black which I wasn't a fan of so I stripped them back and gave them a slightly better finish
Wondering why I painted the gearbox one if you never see it? Decided I'm going to relocate...
Got the Brembos painted today...
Not much else to report, parts hoard is forever growing.
Bought titanium bleed nipples and new seals for the calipers, Cup alternator setup is on its way so I can do away with the broken air-con.
Powerflex bushes for everything but engine mounts are next...
Yeah, Spoke to Chris and have confirmed I need to remove 5mm from the caliper.
Will take them back into work and get that sorted.
Cheers btw dude ?
Anyone had experience with Godspeed G hook discs? They look cool and are quite well priced I think.
Cheers mate
I was unaware they needed any machining?
It's no issue if they do, I basically work in a machine shop, But from what I've read none is needed?
I may be doing what @Cub. did to get them to sweep more of the disc though.
Painted Wishbones & Hubs
Stripped the paint and s**t off the Brembo's
Turns out one was originally red and one Silver.
Got the Pistons out today
Next up, get the calipers ready for paint.
Think I've also sorted some 280mm brackets for them.
Another slow update
Got the bushes out of the wishbones, using a press and heat.
Not the easiest wishbones to get them out of are they lol
Stripped the calipers down, removed all pins, including the already bent one.
All pistons free, needs new seals though.
Just debating going 280mm or...
Think I'm going to go body coloured and just buy both white and bronze stickers and see what looks the best in hand.
Minor progress but its something to keep this thread a little active...
Having a sand blaster at work certainly has its bonuses
Late wishbones getting paint and poly bushes
Oops ?
Got these for cheap, thought at 1st to be a seized piston but now thought to just be a stuck pad.
Will be refreshing everything that needs it (seals/nipples/pins) and giving a fresh coat of paint.
Undecided on colour though... anyone got any ideas?
Thinking either red with a bronze...
