Anybody from around Derby city centre area?

I'm fairly local too, Alfreton so just down the road from Derby. I don't have a Clio anymore though! (haven't for about 4 years)

    Paint bubble on wheel

Looks like a stone chip or something to me, and it's allowed water under the lacquer.

    Apple 8/X

It's a myth that the battery life is reduced with wireless charging. It is less efficient however, so will cost more money to charge your phone, I'd imagine @MarkCup has a spreadsheet showing the extra cost over the life of your phone :tongueout:

    Apple 8/X

But if you had wireless chargers, you would never/rarely get to the point where you need to charge it whilst using it, as it will be kept topped up.

    iTunes Films

Sounds more like a driver/codec issue on your PC to me, and not an Apple issue?

You can still plug a cable in, they've not removed that function (yet!)

    3/8" impact sockets

I broke my T40 too, think it was on a brake disc retaining bolt. They're really good at replacing stuff now, no longer need the receipt and I've heard they replace the ratchets now too? Can anyone confirm?

    Ceramic protection?

I've recently used some glass based coating from Auto Allure (a trader on here) on my dads car, excellent stuff and well worth it. Not sure I'd pay someone to do it as it's quite pricey, but I have the gear needed so did it myself.

    3/8" impact sockets

How about a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter to be able to use the impact sockets you have? But as above, I've been using my normal Halfords sockets on my Makita impact driver (160nm) without issue. My driver is a 1/4 drive but I have a set of 3 adapters to let me put 1/4, 3/8 & 1/2 drive sockets on, so can...

New Owner 172 - bit concerned.....

Every release bearing I've had go has made noise with your foot OFF the pedal. Noise tends to go away when the bearing is under pressure. In fact the one in my mini is noisy now, until I put my foot on the clutch. I'll be leaving it until it gets a lot worse before touching it.

    Apple 8/X

This is the same with any tech though. A 5 year old laptop will be running a lot slower than it did when new, this isn't unique to Apple. I completely agree that the X will be 'upgraded' next year though, why break the habit of a lifetime?

    Pre tensioner question

I can't answer your question, but if it were me I'd be getting the part number off the one on your car and checking it against others. Although I can't see why they would be different?

    Apple 8/X

I'm using a 5 year old iPhone 5 today with zero problems (well apart from the screen looking like it's been polished with a Brillo pad)

We won't know until pre order date I wouldn't imagine. So tomorrow for the 8 and Oct for the X

197 upper inlet with 172 RS lower?

Not as far as I know, you should be able to run the 197 head without standalone management. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon. @bloke

    Clio RS200 projector headlights

Just remember they are only a light that illuminates when turning the wheel, they don't turn with the wheel like a lot of cars do, so you wouldn't be missing out too much.

    Clio RS200 projector headlights

I always find 6000k a bit too blue, much prefer a more OEM 4300k which tends to be whiter and gives better visibility.

197 upper inlet with 172 RS lower?

Isn't the issue getting the 'box in? as the 197 box is too big and the 1*2 box doesn't mate to the block? Needs custom driveshafts, mounts etc. Not a simple drop in job. They you have the electrics side of things, the VVT is different in the 197's IIRC

    Air conditioner not functioning Diagnostic

If you are stumped by front bumper removal, please don't attempt to fix it yourself! If you do decide to, make sure you have the system vacuumed before undoing anything, even though you have a leak its probably still going to contain some refrigerant and lubricant under pressure. Any of the...

Another MCS. The track day toy.

Nice one! @Sir_Dave Any ideas on this? I changed the rack on mine last Thursday - all went fine and the rack fixed my steering noise, however my steering pump is a lot noisier now. It was virtually inaudible before, but since the new rack I've developed the typical whine you hear from a lot...

    Apple 8/X

You I sure? I've got 2 sat here, a 5 and a 7 plus. I have no issues with swapping the SIM card over, both were set up using the same backup from my previous phone. iMessage and apps are associated with the Apple ID, not the SIM card. In fact, the majority of your phone will work just fine...

    help needed

Does the car start now or not? I'd test the battery first, voltage isn't the perfect indicator - but it's better than nothing. After that I'd get it started (jump leads or bump it) and test the battery again, you should be seeing a higher voltage than when you tested the battery (if the...

    Just bought a 172 CUP

To be fair, in winter conditions (snow/ice) I find a car without ABS and TC far easier to drive, but I suspect that'll be because my first few cars were original Mini's, no choice other than to learn how to drive properly with one of them!
