As a rough guide, you should have left over Alternator £50 PAS Pump £50 Air Con pump £40 Manifold Inlet £50 Exhaust Manifold £100 Coil Pack and Leads £20 Gives a total of £310 approx back!

If it has the exhaust manifold i've seen them fetching £100+ on eBay!

Buy the complete engine with evrything on it (alternator starter etc.) Use the new engine with all the other bits from your car. Then sell the bits you have left over? Should get alot back from it! So the enginer actually costs you around 300! Ask the mechanic to keep the bits you have spares...

All 1*2 engines are the same and interchangable. You'll have to swap the plenum and rocker cover over tho as the're different. I got an engine from these guys once. Very reasonable and comes with warranty! They even shipped across the pond for 20 quid more! http://www.findanengine.co.uk/

I'd be pretty sure they fucked it up! Speak to them and tell them the other garage are charging to look at the car and ask are they going to cover the costs? How much was the original bill?

Who uses it and how much do you dilute it?

Mine bent a conrod the day after I got it! Put a new bottom end in and set up. Mate of mine who worked for a Renault Dealer's did the work for me. He charged me £300 for the work. That was to take the engine out, replace bottom end, retime/change belts and put back in! £800 labour is excessive!

How the f**k has a gear ratio got anything to do with the power at the fly? Or was the 155 at the wheels?

It would appear this was done. 155 bhp is a bit low, but not totally unacceptable?! The guys timing was off, should a tuner re-time every single car prior to mapping or fitting bodies? The car made a gain with the conversion, but wasn't running right. This was due to timing not being right...

The bolts on the cam pulleys need to be mega tight. I'm wondering if the dephaser pulley bolt wasn't torqued enough and has slipped!

Sounds like a blown fuse. There are a couple for the radio iirc, check all the fuses in the fuse box. May even be a loose wire!

Is there a dephaser on the 1.4 16v Fred? Or do you just need the locking pin and cam tool?
