Spotted same 172 on Saturday, around midday. Passed it as it was heading up Gibson Street towards the Uni with a large Cliosport sticker in the back window.
Having trouble getting a kit? Try Motorsportsworld out at Strathaven. I have full Eibach kit shox and springs from them and you look as though its the same Mk Clio as I have.

I had the misfortune to breakdown last weekend. The AA man told me it was a fuel pump relay problem which I was surprised he couldnt fix there and then but as I have since changed the relay and still no joy I was told by a friend of a friend whos a mechanic it may be more likely to be the fuel...
Wouldnt touch any Renault dealer.
Sighthill tried to tell me I needed a completely new manifold and were charging me £300+ because their computer was telling them that was the problem. It was just a gasket costing £15, lucky for me Im not as gullable as the ordinary punter, god knows how many...
Ill solve this mystery!! Its was me in Edinburgh, but at 7pm the car wouldve been parked I think although I did get lost a bit trying to find West Nicholson street. There is another RSR kitted Clio kicking about so Ive heard, possibly East Kilbride as someone spotted it but who knows, probably...
Mk2 re-sprayed in pink (and I mean penelope pitstop pink!!) with big alloys and a fit blonde burd filing her nails!Twas sitting at the traffic lights next to the Ford garage ready to turn right onto Cumbernauld road.
Yep tis me!!!! Can even think where that pic was taken?
Lucky the pic was taken from the back as the front bumper is fooked......
As for those doubters on the rims they are the mutts nutts, just dont look all that special at that angle IMO
Just spent a few days in Ireland.
Drove down from Larne to Dundalk through Belfast and back again and spotted a few clios on the way. Passed a red Mk2 non 172, alloys with couple of guys in it just south of Belfast. Dark blue with 17s crossed in front of me oover the A1 too.
Modded black...
A lot of money spent, a lot of time spent, a good effort and at least its individual if admittedly they still need to iron out the horrendous wheels and suspension issues.
Fair play to em.
I agree with what was said above but you cant compare the 1.6 to a 172/182, there is a major difference!!! I went from a 1.4 8v to a 1.6 16v and you can feel the difference easily albeit due to the extra 8 valves and torque.
Ive got one too, does add to the handling. Word of warning though, mine blocks my battery connections. If you need to give or get a jump start make sure the jump leads have small crocodile clips!!!! ;)
SP50
Doing 76 in a temporary speed limit on a dual carraiageway, 3 pts £350 fine!!! Was late at night no-one around feckin gatso hiding behind a road sign.
They are really good in the dry but really slip slide about in the wet, especially on big wheels. Ive had them all round for the past wee while and am needing 2 new fronts now and wont be getting them for winter driving. The one thing going for them is they are progressive and seem to last...
Cheers mate. Have combi groove/drilled discs at the mo, dunno what they are as they were on the car when I bought it so not going for standards.
Any makes to avoid? Red dot, Tarox, EBC etc?
Anyone recommend a decent set of brake discs for a 2001 1.6 Rsi? Mine are fooked and need a new set pronto.
Dont want to spend major cash either, basically the best value for money set?
Cheers.
Many folk are amazed at how quick the 1.6 actually is. Mine has been chipped and remapped the ecu which gives it some extra poke. Plus with the uprated suspension I can keep up with much more powerful motors on back roads no probs.
Another RSi owner here mate. There are more of us out there than you might think!

Its not lighter and faster than a standard 1.2 Dynamique as he says due to the excess max power guff plastered on it and how much more torque can you tune from that engine?
Im afraid to say it but thats one of the better looking modded Clios in the Glasgow area!!! Not saying much that though.
