Won't be "right". They might fit (or they might not) but they certainly wont be correct damping and not different in a good "performance" way. I looked at ECP sachs O/E ones for the rear, then saw that the same part number for my cupped 182 was offered as correct for a 1.2... and a deisel... etc...
Not run a set-up like that so no first hand knowledge... but I would expect a mild stretch to need more psi to prevent the shoulder being used as part of the tread during hard cornering.
Is this for track, road or what? Where exactly is the wear, like is it a narrow band right on the join...
Surely its 99% down to the feeling you get on new tyres - floaty at the rear especially, like its steering itself from the rear and the front is sloppy to respond to steering inputs. I've been told this is the manuafacturing process leaving a residue on the tyres - ???. Howver, even when this...
If price is a big consideration then 195 45 r16 are best option for a ph 2 on standard wheels, there's lots of choice of suitable tyres in that size and typically around £10 cheaper per tyre than the 205's.
Are you refering to an MOT failure? I've never heard of that before for clios, I'm guessing you mean your rear shock top mounts? They might need tightenning perhaps (this would be obvious, however) but there is nothing really that could cause them to wear out/perish. Post some pics if you don't...
You wont be able to fit the front shocks off a 182 cup on your non-cup car, they are a specific bolt spacing. You could put 182 cup springs on, but I would think its a large expense for little or no benefit if your keeping same shocks. You'd probably be better off trying eibach springs if you...
God job there Sam, they clearly were enjoying driving your car and it looks superb in the pics. :approve:
Have you got eibach sportlines or are the springs standard? It just looks to sit a bit "better" than standard to me! ?
The article reflected the value of the 182, citing that you'd likely...
New? ... From Renault, Hundreds!!!
If your CV's are worn I would think you'd be better off getting the shafts refurbed by a firm that does that sort of thing ???
Not aware of any O/E suppliers for correct spec 172/182 shocks without going genuine parts. The likes of ecp or any other motor factors only supply shocks for the lesser clio varients (far too soft for an rs, and even the different rs varients are part specific). Best avoided.

^ says in stock and free delivery (EDIT - only free for two or more tyres, DOH!)
I don't seem to ever get more that 10k out of a front set of tyres, even "normal" ones! I end up swapping front to back so I can even out wear and always get a full set when the time comes
Any new tyres will feel spongey and loose feeling initially. I find it really noticeable especially on the rear, but its the same with most modern tyres. If I've ever had to fit just a pair, I always put them on the front for a few hundred miles as they get a better work-out to scrub up/heat...
I don't expect them to be great in either respect really, and the specs say they only have 6.5mm of tread new - looking at them it appears even less than that! I wouldn't really worry about economy though, I read somewhere that the differencce between best and worst in the new EU ratings equates...
Just ordered 4 of these from Mytyres in 205 45 r16. Well under £300 (delivered price) for the set - a bit of a bargain for a dual purpose roaad/occasional track tyre.
I know lots go for 15's for more choice in sticky tyres, but mines a daily driver, I like it standard, and I can't justify two...
These are available for the lesser clioII's - part number 24-065733 and 24-065740.
Why don't they list them for the 172/182's ???? Surely they will fit as its only the fronts that have specific fitments, right????
I know they don't make a front strut that will fit, I'm only after rears. If...
In that case it will tripod less.
friction increases with tyre loading, its just that it increase in a non-linear manner, so unequal loadings left/right have overall less grip that an equal left/right loading
Depends if the tripoding is mainly caused by the inside rear damper reaching its limit of travel or if you have very stiff rear dampers, which when dealing with sudden pitch + roll motions typically generated on corner entry, cause a momentary lift of the inside rear. In the former case, the...
I think what you are asking is 'do you need to have the toe set differently, specific to each wheel size?'. The simple answer is no. Changing wheels does not affect toe settings. What is said above is all correct, of course, but relates to HOW the measurements are taken rather than what will...
Re: Re hc mot fail
Would be good to have the three types of gas measurement posted up (Lambda, HC and CO) to get a better idea of what going on, and if its only failing on idle, fast idle or both. If Lambda is OK it could still relate to incomplete combustion, which could be poor quality...
195 45 r16 conti sportcontact (1's). Quite new at the time so not like wear was giving extra clearance or anything like that. Not sure how relavant though as, like I say, the cup struts on my 182 might be ever so slightly different, but camber was pretty extreme at around 2 and a half degrees (I...
I'm pretty sure new rear dampers and then get the tracking set will see you right. Despite reliability issues, I would still go for genuine cup parts unless you are keen to spend lots and really want a modified car. As sugested, the fronts could probably be worth doing also, but it seems it's...
I found I could run max camber without any spacers on 182 alloys (On a 182 though), they have ET 45 offset. I'm not sure what wheels you have as it sounds like you don't have 172 cup speedlines ??? If the offset is higher than 40 and less than 45 then I'm pretty sure you won't need spacers to...
... and in 205/45 R16 for £98. Not tried them yet, been waiting for clio owners to review them for road/occasional trackday use. I'm wondering how they compare to Yoko Ad-08 and federal 595RS specifically.
Cool. I'd just be very wary of ever using those other manufacturer numbers they gave you, I've googled them up and most are the 296mm ones, not the 318mm's ones.
What was your firstline part number again?
If you know how, check the front end for play in ball joints and track rod ends as that's most likely to result in wayward straightline handling.
If nothing is obviously worn get the tracking done and see how it feels then, hopefully miles better and you'll be able to get enjoying the car as...
^ I think those parts you list above are all 20mm too short. The renault part number is not what I used either so I'm a little confused. Where did you get the renault part number Sweed? I was told it's 7701473656 for a 182 cup and that's what worked for me. Have you measured the length of the...
The part I got was 335mm total length - from end of inner thread to end of outer thread. Measured from inner mating surface to end of outer thread is 318mm.
I plumped for the even cheaper QH ones, not FAI, so don't have any way of knowing for sure about those. The pic of it on parts databases looks like it is long enough to me though.
