I knew someone who used a Luton van to transport his old kit car. Used the tail lift and an engine crane to hoist it into the back. Another option if you don’t want to tow it, plus somewhere to sleep in the back.
Also car looks smart. Looking at this has made me look at them on eBay.
Currently 5 Ph1’s for sale on eBay, ranging from dreamers, rough things, awful adverts and a possible peach of one. Don’t think I’ve seen that many for sale at one time.
I agree, older cars have way more character than they do now. I would say my 2002 Octavia is a little too new for my liking. But then again I do also drive this (not quite 90's by a few months!) which satisfies the older car criteria:
Would like to see how it compares to a new 5 series in size...
^^ This. My old wheels were pretty rough after a few track days with brake dust burnt in (didn't get the paint thick enough between the spokes). Nothing was shifting it. Gave up and actually bought new wheels, mainly as I wanted different wheels.
I used AMDetails iron fall out stuff on my...
Not worth that’s kind of money....yet.
Yes it is low miles and is in a rare colour and they do not come up for sale often. For that kind of money it will need to be proper special with engine/suspension upgrades or had a lot of restoration work done to it. He is obviously pushing his luck IMO...
I paid about £400 for a custom made full system for my old Clio, which included a decat pipe that did come in handy! I also had a cat back for my Octavia vRS done at the same place and that was like £300 and then a full system of my E34 535i. If you can get to junction 18 of the M4 easy I would...
Not sure if it was in this thread about the Polo Harlequin being spotted, but I did see a VW Scirocco Harlequin at Castle Combe on Saturday. Couldn’t get a picture as I was in the queue to get in and it was several Cara behind. Thought it was pretty smart a great nod to the Polo.
It was a good price, offered postage, had a remote and multiple inputs and there were good reviews. Yeah, it's an analoge one.
The issue was when I had it on phono in I had to have the phone turned down to near zero to get any form of good sound quality out as it was clipping horiffically if it...
Too many cars....remember having 8 at home once. Two were track cars, another was a donor car and randomly a vinatge dumper truck that had a Lister engine in. Oh and also a full fiber glass body shell for a Metro 6R4 that my step dad had visions of doing one day.
I bought an Amp. I just bit the bullet and did it. I think the problem was I was waiting for a good deal and was missing good ones. I ended up with a Sony TA-FE370, so not a AV one. After a thought I think it may be over kill for the set up I want and have - I only have a telly/PS3 and an AUX...
Cool thanks, gives me something to read lunch time tomorrow. Didn’t help that I didn’t know what I was looking for, got a few more options now. Thanks.
@realnumber 1 does that literally do everything? I’ve never seen them before. What is the benefit of one of those? So many in and outputs on the back!!

That’s what I thought about those two, just wanted to be sure!
The Sony one was pushing £100, other are on eBay but with no remote at half the price. Any other brands to look for?
Been given a pair of Mission floor standing speakers and need an amp for them. I was watching a Sony TA-FE330R on eBay but my mate who gave me the speakers said it was too much and don’t bother bidding. What would people recommend?
Ideally have multiple inputs on the back (realistically it...
That Odessey is not a £5k car.....yet.
Rouge Traders, wow I’d avoid that seller. You went to look at it? How bad was it then?
For £5k I’d want something a little special - cams, suspension upgrade, a lot of restoration work/new parts.
I had a similar issue with rear beam bolts when I replaced one after cutting one out. Luckily my brother is a dab hand on a lathe and sorted it.
Also what rear beam bolts are you using, as in the head on them? As I found the recessed cap head thing utter useless, hence cutting one out. I put a...
This is what I thought. Mine were bolted to a frame that had no mechanism. It’s function was not to move and it did that perfectly, seats didn’t move! Still failed.
What’s the airbag/cat directive? If fitted as standard they need to be fitted?
My old Clio failed its MoT test back in July for this - no air bag, drivers seat not moving and being "exhaust being louder than a standard car of similar age and condition" (this annoyed me as there are other standard cars that are a lot louder, mine was 92dB at 4.5k rpm). I was always under...
