Is your exhaust rattling yet? Mine has started after 4000 miles. Once the revs drop on start up it’s fine. Going on that rate it will need to be fixed 10 times for the period I own it which is mental, unless the replacement parts they use are superior and do not break.
Not quite a Clio but has anyone restored glass head lights? The ones on my E34 are a little dull and new ones are rare and expensive so was going to polish them up. Before I possibly waste my money on some smaller heads for my DA polisher is there anything better? Something like the 3M kit I’ve...
I was pleasantly surprised with the room in the back of my 3door, it is as if it is designed as a 5 door and converted to a 3 door and not the other way around, if that makes sense! Although my mountain bike, with wheels off, takes up the whole back of the car
From what I have been told it is a visual inspection and they don't go looking for it. But if there is evidence of it being removed, or a bad job then yeah they will fail.
I can get 32mpg out of a longer motorway run on mine, but the engine is only 1000miles old so I am hoping it will improve. I was pleasantly surprised although I didn’t get one with mpg figures in mind. Better than my old Octavia vRS.
Also when did they stop doing manuals? As I was told back in...
I’m contemplating putting an LSD in mine, but think it would go to waste as mine isn’t used in much anger. Would be more worth while chucking one in my E34.....then I’ll do the M140.
Ahh nice 40mpg, looking forward to getting mine close to that over time, but seeing as it is barely 1000miles old it is still running in. I don't care about mpg figures. My other car is an E34 535i which barely gets 25mpg on a good day. However it is satisfying getting large mpg figures out of...
I do notice it yes when going over speed bumps in sport. I can’t compare to other systems as I’ve not driven anything like this before. I’ve not driven mine anywhere near it’s full potential and I don’t think I’ve even turned it into full yob mode, just the first sport mode which caught me by...
ahh right, I don’t have the cameras on mine. I was worried that it was the active suspension as I have that and it’s not obvious you have it, only when you edit the driving mode it says “drive train and chassis”. Nice interior, wanted that one but not an option any more, same with a manual...
What is the button next to the gear stick? Top is traction control, next two are to change driving modes and the one at the bottom I don’t know. Mine doesn’t have this button so wondering what it does.
No current track cars, but have had or shared owned with my step dad and brother:
* Triumph 2000 with a 2.5ltr BMW engine
* Porsche 944
* Clio Mk1 RSI, which was mum’s daily car and we “borrowed” it to take around Combe, she asked why the back seats were not in it and we were caught
* Fiesta...
@Parky14 i had the issue in mine. I actually removed half a bucket of water from my sills once. IIRC it doesn’t help if the front jacking points are slightly bent and damaged like mine were. I removed the front arch liners and removed a whole load of crud built up behind it. This might help.
Gloucester services....that mean you are local to the area of just passing? The only Ph1 I saw in Gloucester or surrounding area was mine. Would be good to see another kicking about.
What are the plans for this one? Daily driver, weekend project or dare I say track machine?
Nice. I was just wondering as I was at Retro arises the weekend and there were show cars with clean engine bays but also track toys with the same. Tbh the nicer ones were the track cars as it was still functional and not OTT with everything removed. Looked a lot more professional and purposeful.
This will be my issue if I ever buy another one....sorry when I buy anothe! (Won’t be any time soon with the immanent arrival of my new car and refusal to sell my E34). I would want the same spec plus the rest as my old one immediately.
Was at Retro arises today, so a little cheating for good spots as there was a lot there. But highlights were:
This child’s car strapped to a mower engine (2CV in the back ground had an R1 engine in)
And this Clio. Audi engine in the back. Very well finished and the quality of the work was amazing
I pick mine up in two weeks and I’m a little excited. Only drove their demo model for about 20mins though and I was a bit reserved.
How is it to live with?
Also see this is identical to mine - shadow edition in 3 door grey. Wanted orange but that was a factory order and an extra £100 a month...
Saw loads of classic super cars and race cars plus loads of covered car trailers southbound of M40 this evening. Then realised they must have been at the Silverstone Classic.
Also had an E30 325i touring kicking about home for a while as we used it as a donor car for an engine swap into a Triumph 2000. Knowing what I know now I don’t know why that E30 was chosen as it had an LSD and everything and needed only a small bit of work to make good again. Would have been...
Had a mk1 Fiesta track car which had a 2ltr zetec in. Not worth much back in 2010-2011 when owned as it wasn’t road legal, just needed minor jobs for an MoT test. Now fiestas have gone up in price regaledess of condition!
On this note I am not selling my E34 anytime soon seeing as that has...
When I sold my Clio I always said if I had another track car it would be “interesting” and not necessarily faster (One reason why I like the Ph1 and wouldn’t have a Ph2). Yes I could go get an M3 but it just won’t be the same as going into Quary at Combe in something like an MG Midget knowing...
I was looking at old rubbish on eBay yesterday, this time was Fiesta RS1800’s. Again no idea why I like them and I would use it daily.
There was a mk3.5 fiesta in poverty spec but had the 1.8 zetec in from the RS1800 for sale recently, should have bought it just to annoy boy racers in it...
