I second the "fun for a few weeks and then left to rot." It really is a waste of money mate. I had mine less than a year and I spent WEEKS finding one on launch day. Gutted.
Felt a bit like you a couple of months back. The 197 feels waaay different to my Cup. The Cup was fun 0-40mph, the 197 40mph+ is just sheer awesome. It feels rock solid. After sitting back in a 172, I'd never go back.
1. Yes, I also have those bulbs
2. I'm not entirely sure. So long as they are white you shouldn't have a problem. They're not as bright as normal sidelight bulbs I'd say personally.
3. Your sidelight holder. 2 minute job. Pull of the rubber caps on each headlight, pull out the sidelight...
But... but I spend 8 hours every weekend cleaning it with hundreds of pounds worth of cleaning crap and it's got turinis and coilovers :( not to mention it's never been ragged and is mint. Why yes I do attend trackdays, how so?
The new badge comes with a piece of cardboard which positions all the lettering perfectly. You really have to try hard and go out of your way to f**k it up.
Hazza. Was in your situations a few months back. Discolouring is a common problem, and Apple SHOULD replace your case, along with any cracked parts. Mine was 6 months old, and looked 5 years old. Apple requested I sent it to their authorised repairer, who broke promise after promise of when I...
I was in the same boat as you with my first 3G replacement. Except I traveled 3 and a half hours! O2 never told me I had to book an appointment, and it was my first time ever dealing with Apple. I was insanely pissed off at the time, as it should have been a 5 minute swap.
Lesson learnt.

My Cup was £190 with £90 insurance and very little spent on fuel (averaged 33mpg)
The 197 is £250, free insurance (business) and an infinity amount of money on fuel (22mpg).
Re: iphone 3G S
It's a software issue mate. Although the 3G S is alot faster, but as far as crashing goes you're more likely to find problems with the S as apps are having to be patched to work correctly with it.
Try a restore, and wait for the new firmware, which should be along soon as...
Sometimes my drivers door button doesn't lock the car, and I either have to press the bootlock button, the passenger door button or use the fob. Anyone experience this and know why? It happens around 1 in 3 times I try to lock the car and is starting to bug me a bit.
Does the touch have bluetooth? I connect my iPhone to my Sony headunit using bluetooth and play the music wirelessly. It was a feature added to the 3.0 update.
I realise you said you don't really want to have to change your headunit, but it's the more practical way.
