fiberglass is used on a mass scale for custom boot builds. a few lairs aint gonna do s**t, fiberglass and a coat of resin over or bodyfiller and your onto a winner. the metal in the wheel well is only thin tiny crap, so sound will just be lost, atleast filling or lining the hole with sound...

you'l never get back what you pay for the car whatever you do. A decent spray job your gonna be looking around £1500 easy, a lot of work has to be done andput into it.

So I've decided to go down the route of the 172. I know people say it's not worth the money etc. etc. I honeslty dont care, with a claim against my name, and a young driver, it expesive enough insuring a 1.2. I want the looks not the speed! so think before you post.

a backbox aint gonna change anything to be quite honest. i mean bhp wise, maybe throttle reponse. maybe a 4-2-1 or 4-1 decat and straight through stainless your gonna be looking at gains, buut nothing your ecu knows about, without a map your going to see little change.
Engines with induction kits fitted typically see the power gains quite high up the RPM range. However low end power can be compromised. In small engines the effect of an induction kit is often a noticeable loss of low end power.
not a lot of room to get to it, but if you find it, stick a screwdriver through and locate on other side. alternaativly you can just drill yourself a new hole for convience.

any non standard filter/induction kit will sound better than standard. or for a free improvement, pull out the cold feed into the airbox for a better sound.
performance wise, there aint gonna be no difference, apart from sounding louder, giving the feeling of going faster.

prep is very important to get a good finish. But the main key is to warm the plastic and can up, but the can in a warm bucket of water for a min or so, the paint particles will flow much easier and smoother. and dont buy halfords products if you want it to look anywhere near the colour you want...
