In a nutshell, no. Not unless you can find a friendly MOT tester.
I'm facing the same job - MOT is due at the end of the month and I've got to get the cat put back on for the day first.
When me and John have been in the past, we normally take either:
1) A46 > A158 (goes straight past Lincoln)
or
2) A52 from Nottingham all the way to Skegness (goes through Grantham which isn't far from Lincoln).
If it's only just below minimum, chances are it hasn't been like that for long. Either that or it wasn't correctly filled last time and your car doesn't use much oil.
Top it up to full (it'll probably take about a litre to get close to the top of mark on the dipstick), then keep an eye on it...
Does anyone else find getting to the filter an absolute nightmare?
I've got fat hands and can never get to it, so I usually end up taking the front bumper off to give me more room :o
Where does everyone get the impression that turbo's are problematic from? Is it because a few individuals have had issues in the past?
If they're installed properly, run in properly, mapped properly and maintained properly they're fine. Same goes for any car.
Mine's awesome fun to drive, doesn't...
Should easily get more than 30mpg. They don't use much more fuel when cruising IIRC, although someone who actually has ITB's might be able to give you a better answer.
IMO you should go for the ITB's on that kind of budget. You'll get very good gains all over the rev range.
With the low pressure turbo, I can guarantee you'll get hooked on boost and end up wanting to spend even more getting a low comp, high boost, forged bottom end setup. More power, more...
I remember the days when you could put a tenner's worth of fuel in the car and go pretty much anywhere in the country on it. Nowadays it barely gets me off my driveway :race:
Ditto. My glass is broken but the light still works fine.
My MOT is at the end of next month, but really I should stop being a tight c**t and buy a new one.
Basically, yes.
Some issues you'd notice, others you wouldn't until it's too late.
You have to be realistic about these things anyway. Why increase a car's performance if you can't afford to fix it when it goes wrong? That's the reason I don't own an M3 like I was going to originally - I could...
Yep. Probably because they lack low down torque and don't make much power until after 4k rpm.
Epic fun though. Much more enjoyable to drive quickly than a 1*2 IMO.
Point being? It doesn't indicate a problem with the car, it's simply because I'm running an aftermarket ECU (Omex 600). I'll be getting rid of the lights soon enough (when I start the rest of the stripping and the dash comes out).
All the cinemas round here are generally pretty good. I always pay for the premier seating so I get more leg room but other than that I can't fault them. The Odeon in Mansfield and all the cinemas in Nottingham are pretty faultless IMO.
That said, the Scalar in Ilkeston is shocking. It's about...
