When it comes to further modding the cup if i decide it's a keeper for good then the budget will rest between £5-6k for that I'd be wanting:
Seats & Harnesses
Discs and pads
ITB Kit
182 Manifold
RS Tuner
BTB/ Yozza to replace my Ktec
My tyres from last year will last a few more sessions at...
The track days I've done this year ive had R888s fitted, which were a big improvement from the T1R Proxes I used to use on my FRP Fiesta I used to track.
Got loads to learn with track driving, I've got about a dozen good sessions under my belt on a few different tracks now- far from experienced...
The supercharging route is seeming less and less of a good idea the more I hear from people who have done it and the more I listen to the reasoning of those who have already faced this choice. I'm a CUP man so the AC ain't ever been an element I got used to anyways.
R26 and Focus RS are just...
ITBs are going to set me approximately £3k if I do the majority of the work, I'd need a grand for some new seats and belts and some track tyres with new brakes/pads... Would leave me £1.5k to get myself a nice derv runabout so the Cup is purely for track fun.
I can see the benefit of this as...
That is a bit scary, I didn't realise there was soooooo little in it size wise. R26 over a well specced 225? Im sure it was a 225 I test drove, does the R26 come in liquid yellow with the F1 decals? Or is that a different model again?
I wouldn't consider an evo as much as I like them until i was buying a car for 15k so i could keep 5k to one side for maintenance and running costs. I didnt expect a 197 to be a step up performance wise as it's much more of a lard arse than the 1*2s, it brings other attributes to the table...
I am interested in the difference between a 197 Cup and an R27, I didn't think there was a lot in it? Money ain't that much of issue keeping the purchase on the good side of 10k was the plan!
The increase in performance from the 172 to the 197 ain't a problem, as the 197 range makes up for it...
S2000s, a charged mx5 and 350zs are on the shortlist as possible replacements- also considered a z4 but the model i like is waaaaaaay out of my rice range. I've driven a 350z and loved it, really nice car to be in and I imagine can be a lot of fun. Still yet to try an S2000 but i am a massive...
One the subject of the meganesport... I like them but having driven one they aren't as raw and exhilarating as the clio, which is an element of the drive i like the most, I'd be needing a modified/uprated one to see to my needs- and thats what puts me off. If I'm going up to that size of...
Come this March I'm finished paying off some money and a sharesaving scheme from works pays out so its either new car time/modifying time for my 172 cup. Basic options are:
1. Supercharge my 172 cup, spend money upgrading other bits and bobs as I'd have about £6k to spend. One of the...
Looks like a great day with some good cars on show, also good effort on the thread/write up and banter etc
It makes me want to make the trip to a day like this as I'm sure it will other members, it shows in the way people are talking about it how the event went- evidently very well :)
The Clio is sounding a bit dog rough after a drive home in the snow from the lakes, the exhaust is hanging off again (2 full sets of mounts this year).
Rough price for;
Dephaser pulley replaced
CamBelt&AUX belt Change
Upgraded exhaust mounts? Renault ones don't seem to be able to hold my
Ktech...
Chris and his dad at Manic have worked on my pugs in the past and in the North East they are legendary tbf, they do know their way round he Clio cup very well I know for certain.
Will somewhere like ktech really be any better? I was planning on getting and RS Tuner instead of paying for a...
My 172cup has been sounding dreadful recently, the dephaser pulley needs replacing so I'm planning on doing the belts as well. I've got a very competent garage close by (manic motors) who normally work on my car, what I was wondering was is it worth the extra travel to see a Clio specialist...
My drivers side windscreen wiper stopped working randomly tonight in the snow, I'm going to need to fix it in the morning before work at 6am! Passenger side is still going strong but fairly pointless without it's mate working in tandom.
What's the most likely cause and am I gonna be able to...
Matched inlets, Ktec stealth + decat, Ktec panel filter, vmaxx coilovers and a set of top mounts waiting to be fitted. Got myself a Sabelt RS wheel for Christmas off the wife :) don't want to fit it though cos I do a lot of miles in the car and I'll ruin it.
I'm wanting a remap on it sooner...

Anthracite turinis on the side that you passed on, yellow turinis on the passenger side :) my car was scruffy, ain't had a good seeing to in 2 weeks so next to yours I bet it looked sheddy
172 Cup, that was me in the Cup beside/behind you tonight... Car looked very clean mate, went good as well :)
I wasn't willing to do the last 1/2 mile to the tunnel that fast lol but you looked steady enough through it.
Roof wrap would be better than paint and I think it would look good in White, maybes even better in LY or grey!
Don't go doing other random bits as themed cars look shite!
That looks really good to me, I'd definitely be interested in trading wheels if you want some 16" cup turinis matey as I'm on the lookout for some F1s :)
Mine need a refurb but do come with 3 brand new continentals and a 4mm+ tread federal... They are yellow ATM and I think they look awesome...
How much did the xenons set you back buddy? I have corrected my headlights with a DA Machine which has helped but they just don't look as good... I've went with better bulbs etc and it's still a but s**t in the dark.
Love the colour of the wheels, that's what I'm gonna aim for with my turinis...
I'm about sunderland quite often tbh bud, we could do with organising a meet as there seems to be a lot of people posting in this thread alone... Theres quite few on here who use saxp/106owners who could be hooked in to :)
Saw another 172cup in boro yesterday, he flashed me at the lights...
