hi all - crikey lots of replies - cheers
Griff, you are right, the port is on the i/o part of the mobo itself... it IS NOT on any kind of standalone card... as i said (for you oldies out there) its the same style as a joypad port on a megadrive, Amiga, Atari2600 etc...
Aluco : Thanks for...
thanks chaps... yeh its probably just a male vga port i guess.... if it isnt a vga port what the hell could it be?... an amiga or megadrive joy-stick/pad port? :)
Ello - Do ALL motherboards have an output for a monitor?.. im guessing yes.... it does have what looks like a typical VGA(15 pin) port BUT its MALE.. isnt it usually a female port on mobo?... or do they vary... I'm at work at the mo' and just thinking about a problem i have with my new build and...
How long has the 172 been out for now compared to the amount of cars running over only 205 brake?.. be hard pushed to count them on 2 hands... unless you're going for a full engine and transmission swap then why even bother for the cost per horsepower gained...
ah ok... so even if the CPU was retarded SOMETHING would still display on the monitor after turning PC on.... oh and no, it doesnt beep either... Just same fancy LEDs on the MOBO saying all sorts of random things are working fine thats all..
Cracking!!!!! thanks chaps... will give that a whirl tomorrow....
a quickie.. ive never installed a cpu before, and was proper paranoid id bust the fragile things with my shrek like fingers.. IF the chip was damaged could that cause no display?..

Tim : no, no beeps mate :(
Everyone else : well im guessing the mobo has somekind of onboard GFX... so you are suggesting connecting a VGA from the i/o on mobo to the monitor, turnon, get a display, go into bios, disable the onboard gfx then try again with DVI cable attached to gfx and monitor...
argh.... after turning on my newly built PC tonight it just isnt displaying anything on the monitor... the monitor stays on Stand by and initially says "no input signal".... when i disconnect the dvi cable from the back of the new pc and put it back into the running old pc the screen come back...
Just built a new PC and about to re-build the software on it back to up the way my old PC was…
Just wondering how I go about replicating all my itunes and ipod stuff… Mainly all my playlists within itunes off of my old PC… Can you export the tunes in these playlists into one file kinda like...
