Problem solved - called a sneaky 0114 tech support num from "saynoto0870.com" and it turned out that the outage caused my mac addy to be deleted from the system... in other words, virgin were sending a signal to nowhere... thanks for everyones help anyway Ta

Those pics cant be from tron at all!... im pretty sure the clio wasnt even around back then and also the real give away is in the 1st and 2nd pics.. Look closely and you will see a "5" and a "4" on the reg plate!!! this means that it was registered in 2004!!!! Tron is about 20 years older...

right - fixed it... there is actually a SP2 fix available but i didnt need to use it.. i repaired the TCP/IP stack "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" then the Winsock "netsh winsock reset catalog" rebooted and woo... unsure if i should apply the fix from microsoft too as its fixed...

right, one final thing before i take it to "an uber"... On the mother board there is, what seems like a small socket near the CPU which would accept 8 "pins". looks like a much smaller version of the main 24 pin mobo power supply socket.. 4 of the the pins are blanked off from the factory...
