id say head gasket. it probably cut out due to water getting in to piston chamber.
did you check under the oil filler cap. if you did and it was full of mayo, then definately a head gasket gone.
are the rca cables run the same side as your power cable. if so this could cause the problem, as well as bad earth. as a rule rca's and power feed go on opposite sides.
just spotted these, i know how rare the downpipe is to get hold of, so someone might get a bargain

a friend of mine borrowed my willy turbo, and asked how many others there were, iand i was wondering the same, i know of 4, nick reads old one, a red one in the brighton area, a stripped grey one, on williams clio, and mine. any others?
i had this done on my valver/show car. looked nice, but a pain in the arse.
i now have a williams, and have had a hybrid. go for a williams engine. i didnt think that they would be any different to a valver, but boy was i wrong. i have some pics somewhere if you want to see, just send me...
any decent alloy wheel place sould do it. its basicall a tool that bolts to the hub, and has rollers on it and basically rolls the arch back. thats as simple as it gets. you may need to seal/paint under the arch after to stop rust, but depending if it needs it, ie bare paint. should be around...
if you have a 16v, no problem,i had 18'sandit was slammed. if its not a 16v,youwillneedthe archesrolled.the only companynear me are rtec. but as i dont know where your from its not much help.
mine did this, turned out to be the lambda sensor. the other thing worth checking is the water coolat sensor. both tell the engine how much fuel it needs and if buggered will bring up the symptoms you have said.
im selling the willwoods, and going back to standard brakes. ive got brembo max discs, just want to know what pads you lot would recommend. i have got pagid blues, but want a pad that will not make any noise, dust isnt a problem, squeeling is.
many thanks
there are 2 types for the front, girling and bendix, not to sure for the rears. if gsf say only 1 take there word for it, they have never let me down yet!
ive got the same set up, thats why i fitted a second bonnet release cable that mounts, behind front bumper. looks like a broken window, or get some one to pull door back, and try to get a hook onto the door pin.
driven by someone in a white baseball cap. i dont live to far from there, so if you know who it is, give me their address, and i go and show them how to turn the bloody front fog lights off!
