Re: Clutch, waht clutch?!
I can recommend the N Spec clutch that K-Tec do. It's on my Valver (was on when I bought it) and it's solid. No judder or anything like that. Seems really good. I have no idea what standard ones are like to compare, sorry. :)
Re: took every 1's break advice and..
Yes, and they also squeal depending on the various compounds being used. The Mintex pads use a metal compound which many users will agree make them squeal. I'm not knocking them, I have them on both my Clio's, just a shame about the noise. May try...
Re: took every 1's break advice and..
Yup I have brembo max discs and extreme pads. The pads do squeal. Not so bad now, but sometimes when braking slightly they do it v.noticeably.
Oh, sorry my bad, I thought that was ATW. Cheers for putting that straight for me. ;)
I don't know how reliable mate, it came with the folder full of receipts when I bought the car from off here. The car is modified though. You know what dyno's are like I guess, they all differ from each...
That's from mine. 155bhp (most likely ATF). 0-60mph is around 8 seconds (I think that's book figure). 137bhp ATW (book figure). Power doesn't really kick in till 4.5k rpm. :)
Hope that helps.
It depends, I mean what condition is the rest of the car in, mechanically? I mean if it's had a re-build it should be solid, but what about the gearbox. Does it pop out of gear, or does the gear lever have a lot of movement? Has the clutch ever been replaced, etc.
:)
Was it me mate? I was off into Uni around that time. :)
I bought the car from Rich (who is probably the guy you are thinking off). ;)
Here's a pic:-
I can't believe I didn't spot a V6 in the traffic!! Woops!
Isn't the groove at the far right the min mark and the little notch on the left further up the actual dipstick the max mark?
Lol I hate these easy question, I always get them wrong. :(
Mine's ok on the petrol, but I do give it the beans sometimes... I just can't help it! :rasp: With regards to servicing/repair costs.... a lot more than my RT has ever cost me.
Sounds fine matey. The cotton gauze does give a good load roar compared to a foam filter which has a deeper note to it. Also, the noise sounds about right. The K&N will give a more pronounced airflow noise (as there air is being sucked through the filter) and it also sounds more whiny (if...
Interesting. How long would people say to run the stuff for before noticing a difference. (i.e. I couldn't just put it in for one fill-up and expect to see a change could i?)
I'm all for testing it like. :)
Why not get rid of the de-cat and fit either a sports cat or a silenced de-cat? That should give similar performance but slightly quieter. Everybody's happy! :D
Or keep the de-cat and say it's loud so I don't have to hear your whining woman! :clown: :rasp:
(j/king). ;)
It doesn't sound that bad too me. :)
Needs a camkit (which I would fit to any car I bought regardless if they say it's been done). So that's a given imo.
Slow windows (v.common problem). Regulators cost around £68 iirc.
Noisy PS Pump. (common problem). Probably just needs fluid...
I got charged £250 for the kit (i.e the belt and pullies). But I then threw the belt out and used the uprated Piper Cams belt from K-Tec. :)
But yeah, I'd say between £200-£250 is the going rate. :)
Hmmm I don't know really, I get a very slight whine from mine but I don't think it is anything tbh. Maybes it could be a belt too tight, or a pulley, or the waterpump causing it?
