I was just about to post the same as Wongy, must remember to read all the other posts before posting myself..!!!
No good fitting cams if you dont have the fueling to match. You probably have less power than before.
They only really brought out the Turbo 1, 2 & Maxi to promote their name in F1 at the time. Gordini was associated with the F1 development, so they used that name on the 5 as more of a marketing ploy.
Much like they did with the Williams Clio. That was brought out when Renault were supplying...
Gordini were like what AMG is to Merc, and M is to BMW.
If you look at the old 80s Renault engines in the F1 cars, they are all badge up with Gordini. 1500cc V6 turbo pushing out 1400bhp in qualifying trim.!!
:o

Funky - That pic is the Turbo 2. Rear engine, rear wheel drive. You can pick a decent one up for about £10 - £12K. Come with 160bhp standard, and use pretty much the same engine as the Gordini turbo comes with, but has bigger turbo and mechanical fuel injection.
As far as Im aware the first...
There is a Renault 5 Gordini and a Renault 5 Gordini Turbo.
I dont know where you heard that they only turbod it for the track, thats certainly not true.
I had a Gordini Turbo last year, brought it as a project but never finished it.
They run very low boost and use a suck through carb and...

ops..... hit the wrong button..
I had an alarm fitted to my old 5 turbo that had an anti-hijack feature. 5 seconds after turning the ignition on it locks all the doors, then when you turn the key to the fully off position (so you can take it out) it unlocked the doors. I think this is a must...
Sorry to hear that, and glad your ok.
Keep us posted on what happens to him, or rather, how many years he gets. Knowing the sh*t*y british justice system, hell probably get off with a smacked wrist and youll end up being charged with something instead.!
I
I wouldnt call any Scooby a hatch, because there not, they dont have one. :D
Escort, GTiR, V6 Clio..... all hatch backs.
Fords FR300 (300bhp Focus) is fwd, and test say that it gets it power down almost perfectly, and handling is very good too. (Plus Im not a Ford fan either!!!). :(

GR - Its a Smart car, but tuned by Brabus (for some strange and unknown reason). Personally I think the best place for a smart car is a breakers yard.!! ;)
To bleed it easy.
Take off the cap, and with the engine running, turn the steering to full lock one way, hold for a couple of seconds, then turn to full lock the other way and again hold for a few seconds.
top up fulid if required and replace cap, job done.
Good luck mate, it can be a real pig of a job getting the mounts lined up once you come to put it back in, the rear mount is a b**ch.!
Why are you taking it out?
Dawsons front bumper is the same for every car he does, 5 turbo, clio, golf etc... and looks totally out of place on all cars its fitted to. It sticks out way too far and just looks daft. I cant quite place it but it definatly doesnt look like anything jap style to me!? I think it should...

True, they are a mass of pipes, half of which can be thrown out.! Like I done on one of my old 5s.
Alot of the wiring is really bad too, and alot of it can be binned.
I got a Jap RZ twin turbo (Mk4), 1995 (N reg) in Black.
Your right though, the center console is masive, but really makes you feel like you part of the car, it just curves right round you.
So far Ive got: HKS front mount IC / Stage 3 hybrid turbos / Full Blitz pipe / both cats removed /...
Who said anything about a Supra race car!? A track car is only as good as the team that build it. Doesnt say anything for the road car.
Ill agree that the Mk3 is a bit of a boat and doesnt like going round corners, but then, I dont really like them that much, plus they have a big problem...
Standard box and clutch in the MK4 Supra can handle over 600bhp if required. That goes for manual and Auto. So I dont know where you heard that from?
Also, the handling is superb, so I would also like to know where you heard it was crap? Maybe you should drive one instead of listen to all...
My point is, any engine will go bang if its not looked after if it has a turbo or not.
Im sure you have all seen the posts on here of peoples 172s not even lasting a few thousand miles.!
Rob, and the reason those 6 GTT owners engine went bang would probably be down to poor maintainance...
In the days of turbo cars in F1, they could either use a 3500cc NA engine or a 1.5 turbo engine.
The 1.5 turbos used to run upto 4 bar of boost on overtake setting, which is over 60, yes 60psi.!!! The block and head were all one piece of metal, so they didnt theoretically have a cylinder...
The 1.4 8v pushrod turbo engine used in the 5 turbo is a very good engine. Granted it is based on a very old design, but looked after and modified properly it is a very reliable motor. They have one of the best bottom ends Ive worked with. The major worry about these engine is the label they...
