The only thing that I have extracted from this thread is how many irrational bell ends there are on this forum that will no longer be given advice or help from myself just in case I give bad advice and they turn
By the sounds it was too complicated of a deal from the outset,
What if the turbo that was being removed didn't sell for 6 months ?
if that's what happened did work just stall at that point ?
The owner sounds like he has plenty of money if he works offshore and can blow £30k in a £4k car,
why...
There has to be more to this,
There is absolutely no reason for such minor work to end up taking more than a few weeks to complete so either there was a fall out at the beginning of the work or the owner kept changing his mind on what he wanted doing or how much money to plough into the french...
It's a while since i did mine but,
Through the wheel arch, it takes a bit of wiggling to get it out but isn't difficult, the seal is just a big O ring stick it in place with a bit little silicone ( it just hold it in place while you get the end cap position and torqued up ), no need for any...
It's probably a bit expensive ( £3.5 - 4k is nearer its value ) but with prices going up you could run it for a couple of years and get your money back if you don't do big miles.
1 - get a 1/2 drive 12 point socket that is ever so slightly too small to fit over the whole nut, fit a extension bar on the socket
2 - lump hammer and beat he socket over the nut
3 - undo
4 - repeat
Life hack for the lazy f**k millennials :
1 - remove oil filter
2 - start engine
3 - engine will pump oil out for you
4 - engine will seize
4 - replace filter & refill with oil
5 - now just tidy up and you're done (y)
They aren't legal and you can be done for them, but the decision is yours on whether or not you think its worth the risk of £100 fine,
personally i have bigger issue's to sort than the size of my number plates.
