Hmm just checked, it was future proofed and only came with an HD-out wire.. Never been able to use it all my life since the 80s - cant wait to load"" my first E90 :)
I think ill give Neil a call at least fred cheers - and seriously, im no mug, or just swap engines "willy-nilly" for the sake of a little noise... Believe me, everyone from fodder MOT people to a reno techie guy in Enfield (mate of Chris and generally top bloke) and also a decent tuner have all...
well fred, this is the problem.. everyone ive spoken to have said it needs to be stripped down to be taken a look at... thats between £300 and £400... had various estimates of problems inside.. rangining from followers etc... which were quoted total of about 800-1000 for everytjhing sorted... i...
Cheers Sh33n - thats fine..
Yep Fred, getting a virtually brand new 182 engine and clutch put in there.... i wont be able to sell my cup with the noise its making really... runs perfect, love it, but sounds like a tractor at idle.. really got an itch for another car and this is holding me...
Will a 182 engine be fine as a replacement for a 172 engine?... They are the same arent they and will fit no problem?... Exhaust manifold from the 172 cup would fit fine wouldn’t it?
Just wanted confirmation there
Thanks all
Floodie
hmm cheers - naa cant be arsed to go over there - its not far from reading i suppose but naa its a chore... Would they take on a private job then anyway? :)
Hi peeps..
Want to throw this out to everyone on here as its a bit of a long shot but hey!
Is there anyone in Hertfordshire OR maybe even near Bracknell(im there most weekends) that has the experience / tools / and physical place PLUS the free time to do a private job on a 172 cup engine...
Quick question for the VAG boys.
When tuners and various companies say their product is for the "transversely mounted 1.8T engine" is that basically all the VAG engined cars?.. Golfs / LCR, Ibizas / TTs / S3's etc etc?? or are SOME "transverse" and others "not-transverse" ??
Cheers
Christ nice one... so thats £220 for a new clutch fitted and £131 for a new cam belt fitted!... Are you their mate or something? Mind PM'ing me their details plz in case i need any work done? thanks mate
Ah nice - im near reading most weekends!... can you post up again once you have had it done plz to confirm thats all you paid if thats ok.. not being cynical but worried that the garage may have underestimated the work involved thats all and may bump it up.. get the quote in writing if you can...
Jesus, so your saying just under £220 all in for a new clutch, fitted on a 172? is that what your saying?.. crikey... worth bearing in mind.. where you based?
Disagree totally - I know many with this engine in many different vaux's and its far from reliable even in stock trim.... PLUS i was interested in one after having my red top 16v but after a lot of research i was strongly advised to stay clear, even ranked No1 worst engine by a local Vaux...
