k cheers so 172 and 182 cup only... just been outside.. all "looks" fine underneath etc... when its started, out of gear, foot on clutch sounds fine.. when i release the clutch it sounds terrible!... 3rd wont work at all... all other gears work and seem to drive the car ok just with a bad...

Thanks Matt i didnt know that!... So it would be no use going to a breakers and using their FF 172 engine/box as my speedo wouldnt work?. Damn, that really makes my search harder.. Do any of the 182's have JC5s with speedo drive holes? or is it ONLY the 172 cup?

No you dont need them for MOT...only rears. My 172 cup was passed last month at reno in harpenden hertfordshire by bob with the driver side fog not working.

Haha nice - ooh not a great drive Letch > hertford... why do you drive through stev tho?.. have you considered going Letchworth > A1 to Hatfield before the tunnel > then 2nd left at the roundabout onto the A414 all the way into Hertford... great road that...give it a go.. i think it would shave...
