As a rule i don't like Mercs, especially the AMG ones as all they tend to do is put awesome engines with HUUUUGE power in big barges that can go mentally fast......in a straight line. Yawn.
But this.....i like. Alot.
They are a bit soul less though IMO. I don't particulary care how much faster they are either. I don't recall James's ever having much of an impression on me.....I'd even go as far as saying it was a bit detached and dull.
A 172/182 has a certain cheeky charm and ultimate chuckability fun...
Were you eavesdropping the phone call?!? Thats almost exactly how the conversation went. One minute im looking forward to wafting along on heated leather in the BMW lane at 90+ LPH (Leptons Per Hour) only to be told i have to drive us the 50 odd miles in my slightly wheezy 306 Derv.
Honestly...
This should be an interesting read. Brave man but respect is due. Mate of mine owned a Chimaera for a year and it damn nearly bankrupted him!
That front end is all one piece so make sure it gets a proper fibreglass specialist repair on that lower splitter damage. We can do it here so if you...
Got a lot of love for this car. If i didn't have the Cup then i'd get a Ph1....or steal this off you.
Has cleaned up very well.....the new interior was a must considering there was a lake of stagnant water under that rear bench. :dead:
^^^Now THAT is what im talking about. Although weighing 7.5 tonnes it'll probably cost less to airlift the thing to Le Mans by Chinook than it would be to drive it there.
Im sorry to break this to you fella but just because you are a bit handy peddling a kart that doesn't necessarily make you a quick driver in a proper car. If i were to pick a driver to drive my race car i'd have him all day long....and Sir_Dave...and Lee....and probably Steve as well.
Whereas i managed to out drag Tim down the approach to the first kink/corner after getting a good exit from the pit exit corner....
There were some really tricky corners to get right....that infield hairpin right did my brain in as i kept scrubbing off too much speed through it.
Take a tent, a sleeping bag, comfortable walking shoes, LOTS of alcohol and ear plugs. Oh and knee pads......for when you kneel at the altar of motorsport.
There was a distinct lack of braking ability amongst us i must say....and quite a big variation between the karts as well. The lad that won lapped me on the straight like i was standing still but then i passed others like they were! Very odd.
It comforts me that THE best driver out of all of...
Actually you'll hate to hear this mate but someone didn't turn up. You should have just come along to watch and bought along you helmet and gloves on the off chance...you'd have got a drive!
The marshals were surprisingly relaxed. I did get a NO CONTACT board shown at me after i clattered into...
Pic of the bruise on your hip?? That'll be worth a look. ;)
I must apologise actually.....i did clatter into the side of you at one point....although i was going sideways at the time.
So basically the guy in the Stig helmet really couldn't drive like the Stig then. Steve and Tony both punted off by the same guy.
'Rubbing' is racing. Full on shoves up the ass isn't.
Hmmm...started 4th got jostled back to 9th (I think) ended 6th.
Well impressed by you Vicky. That was a comeback even more impressive than 'this kart is broken, this kart is broken, oooh this kart is fast!' Dave ;)
Thanks for organising today Vicky. Was cracking fun....if not a little rough. I think Tony will vouch for that better than anyone.
Sorry we didn't join you at the pub but being quite old we started to seize up...;)
Don't put too much pressure on yourself Steve....i predicted you to be 'up there'....not to win overall ;) I got put to the back of the pack at Buckmore after getting punted out of 3rd on the first lap! Shows anything can happen....
I've done 40 mins at Daytona (Sandown), as has Tony and Dave, and that started to hurt. 50 mins may require a little bit of pacing......anyone saying they plan on going flat out for the duration are either made of stone or just hideously over confident!
