I dont know why people say the 205 GTi 1.6 is better balanced than the 1.9 as they use the same engine - its just stroked to 1.9... Same Block - same bore... It does have extra bits like Oil cooler and stuff but I wouldnt have thought it would make that much differece...

Ive also seen bolt on heat sinks that wrapp around the the oil filter - though I dont know how effective they are - and if you risk damaging the filter....
On my pug I used to run a fairly high concentration of Anti freeze in the water as well as it has much better heat discipating properties...

Dont forget its not the peak torque that gives you the advantage - its the even flow or torque through the rev range to give constant acceleration.
