Start the engine and then take a voltage reading. Should be 13v-14v if the alternator's ok. If it's still 11.7 or thereabouts then your alternator is no good and your battery is flat. Should read over 12v with no load on it.

I'd change mine if I even had so much as the slightest inkling it might be on it's way out.... but seriously dude... How bad do your belts have to get?! lol!!

Yeah 6 speed box on all 197's/200's. The later 197's have slightly altered ratios iirc.
