Just a quick write up today - more pics, fewer words :)
I spent today tidying up a mates' Clio R27 and Megane R26. The Clio was treated to Lime Prime and Supernatural. The Megane was corrected by me recently, so it was just quickly cleaned and the protection was topped up with Dodo Red...
Today's detail saw me travel to Birmingham, to carry out a correction detail on a rather tasty red Mitsubishi Evo 8 FQ320.
Now, before I tackled this car, I spent some time looking over the various write ups on these beasts in the Showroom and Studio section, so was a little worried to see...
Shock, horror! A RenaultSport and Dodo Juice detail today... again
This particular example was in superb condition, being less than a year old and having less than 5,000 miles on the clock.
On initial inspection, there was only some very light marring/swirling, and lots of...
Today, I went to detail a stunning Glacier White RenaultSport Megane R26, with black wheels.
The intention was to knock back some swirling with Lime Prime via Rotary, then top with Supernatural. However... the paint was ROCK HARD. I made a schoolboy error also and didn't take anything more...
Over the weekend, as part of a birthday present for me, I had my car lowered on H&R springs, something which I've been meaning to do for a while.
After having detailed 6 cars in the last week, mine was looking rather sorry for itself, so I have it a quick clean with Dodo BTBM, then topped it...
Note to self - don't forget to take your lance for your pressure washer to a detail.
Oh and don't knock the owners' pressure washer over after being very kindly loaned it... oh dear, not a good start...
Anyway, on to the detail... yes, another RenaultSport :D I'm getting the hang of...
Today's detail was on a rather tasty looking Frozen White Fiesta ST. The owner James has a great detailing collection, but most of it was still sealed, so it hadn't seen much love in a while.
In general, the car was quite dirty, and covered in dead insects and general grime:
I...
Today's detail was on a silver Clio Dynamique, with some very tasteful mods, notably the lowering springs and the RenaultSport front grille.
The owner, Alex, a member on here, had obviously looked after this paint, and had already washed, clayed and dried it for me before I arrived.
I was...
Today's was familiar territory for me - a Deep Black RenaultSport Clio 197 R27, 1 of the other 499 cars in this spec.
The owner, Sean, told me that the paint was quite badly swirled, but I hadn't seen the car previously, and hadn't seen any pictures of it. So I figured I'd take along a litre...
I was looking forward to this one, and it didn't disappoint, a real pleasure to work on.
The car itself is a really credit to it's owner - Chris, as it was generally in superb condition, was obviously well cared for and protected, but was just a bit dirty from general road grime.
Apart...
Just thought a few of you may be interested to see the difference in size between the Kestrel (which is similar size to Makita and Silverline) and the Chicago CP8210 Rotary
(Excuse the quality - iPhone)
Russ.
I was a little nervous about doing this car - it was attempted by a Pro recently and he was unable to correct it, despite removing around 6 microns of paint. I said I'd have a go and see what I could do, but really didn't expect to be able to achieve anything near perfect
The car itself is...
I've only just got round to having a decent play with Megs 205 - I bought a sample from Mark at Autobrite a few months ago.
I must say that this is a joy to use, it corrects surprisingly well for a "finishing polish" and dusts very little.
Few pics here, topped with Z Glasur (which only...
Last pics before it's lowered next week on H&R springs - should have a much better stance.
Just got a Panasonic TZ6 camera too, so still learning to use it.
For those interested, it was cleaned with Optimum Shampoo, then given a coat of Optimum Opti Seal.
May get H&R...
Right, so today I wanted to have a good play with HD Cleanse to dispel the myths that it's troublesome to use.
After playing with a few panels, I found that a water spritz'd, Sonus SFX3 pad on Speed 1 via DA makes HD Cleanse an absolute joy to use. It did dry up on me a couple of times, and...
I can do the swap for not a lot of money, but do people think I should?
The main reason I am looking is my 33 mile each way commute 3 times per week, which can be a bit frustrating in the Clio. The Megane seems better suited.
What will I lose by changing to the Megane? I guess it won't...
Hello folks,
I've just changed my headlights on my 197, so now I want to get a 6k HID kit fitted, but I'm too retarded to do it myself.
Has anyone in the West Mids done this before, and fancy doing mine please? Beer tokens will cross palms, of course.
Also, recommendation for a HID kit...
I am thinking of lowering and doing the wheels in gloss black as they need a refurb really.
Could one of you fine people help me out please by working your magic on the pic below:
Oh fanks,
Russ.
I need to remove my HU to fit my Tunepoint (thanks stu-172!), but don't have the required tools.
Does anyone near me have some that I can use please?
Cheers,
Russ
Sunday night about 9pm (I think) I spotted a Red Clio R27 with Cup Spoiler near Reedswood in Walsall.
Anyone on here?
Also, my mate spotted a Black R27 near Coppice Farm during the day.
Lastly, there was a LY R27 on Clarke's Lane near Willenhall... bit of an R27 fest near me!
Any of...
I began correcting my R27 today - the swirls on this thing are shocking!
I'm busy doing other cars too, so I've only managed my bootlid for now. I'm awaiting some Swissvax Best of Show to finish it off, so may hold off the rest of the correction until it's arrived.
Should look...
Pedro, is this you?
You passed me by the funny bridge at the top of Clarke's Lane about 23:30?
I was in the Black R27 waiting at the lights.
I also saw a Black 172 earlier in the evening on the Wolverhampton Road - was lowered with Evo sticker.
Oh and alexavfc in Aldridge :)
Russ.
I have an agonising 3 weeks to wait until I can collect it, but deposit and funding all sorted today :)
The handling is simply sensational, as is the grip. Power doesn't really hit home until 5000RPM, but it's a lot quieter than my ST was, so it 'sounds slower'.
Brakes are awesome too...
