Is there a minimum age to drive other cars with Sky / Brentacre?
This would prove really useful for me but I'm only 24. Most of the insurers have a ridiculous minimum age of 25 for stuff like that in my experience.
Insurance renewal is needed at the end of Feb.
I have the straight through K-Tec Supersport exhaust and decat. It's VERY loud when gunning it or driving at about 80+, but it's just a quiet burble if you don't floor it everywhere and stay within the speed limit.
It actually sounds epic, especially with added wastegate chatter
You sure it's not a K-Tec / Yozza stealth? That would explain the extra noise and would look pretty standard to the untrained eye.
Also, has the sound deadening tar been removed from the car at all?
I can recommend the helix paddle clutch. I've got one fitted and I reckon it gives the car a unique character. It's harsh as fook when you first fit it but after a few hundred miles it beds in nicely and starts to feel a bit more like a normal clutch. It also creaks when changing down or...
I know that setup is OK, that's what just about everyone else has got. Hence why I put the statement about standard calipers being fine :p
I will be taking it out on track at some point but I'd much rather spend my money getting the car how I want it first. I'm going to buy a set of 4 pots...
So... who does the best deals on 4 pot kits?
I'm not bothered about make as long as they're decent quality and come with braided lines for the front.
Also as much info on what disk / pad options are available would be useful and might help me make my final decision.
And before anyone starts...
There's a common misconception on this forum that the turbo conversions are unreliable, probably due to teething issues that other members have had previously.
I've got the Stage 2 setup and so far it hasn't missed a beat.
You don't NEED better brakes than standard even with the high boost turbo kit. They're good enough to do the job on normal roads. If you find yourself incapable of braking before having an accident you're driving like a pleb and need to slow down.
If you're going on track then yes, better brakes...
Ah I see. So essentially say you had a 1 bar actuator but wanted to run 1.2 bar you could keep the solenoid closed until the inlet manifold pressure reaches 0.2 bar then the 1 bar actuator could be made to do the rest? Or similarly you could just use the solenoid to keep the actuator closed all...
I think I get what you're saying. Basically the actuator controls the movement of the wastegate and the boost controller effectively dictates what the actuator does by preventing boost pressure from reaching it?
So how does the it prevent the pressure from reaching the actuator? Something to do...
Just get a new Renault mount and reinforce it somehow. Old socket bits, offcuts of pipe and used rubber bushes from other parts of the car (suspension etc) can be placed in the gaps in the rubber on the standard mount. Use tie wraps to secure. Stops the rubber from stretching and distorting when...
I use AG car shampoo all the time just because it's what someone brought me.
Seems to do the job just fine although I'm not anal about cleaning the car like everyone else seems to be.
It had its first ever claying last week :o
Thank God there are like-minded people on here.
I thought I wasn't "down with it" because I only have the standard tones on the phone. It's still embarassing enough having "Marimba" burst into song every time someone rings, no need for cheesy chart-topping nonsense.
Some 18 year old barryboy will buy it anyway because it's got plastic bits stuck to it and big whimz yo'. Then he'll park it either side of a tree within a few days and end up buying a Corsa to replace it. Win win for sport owners.
Has anyone fitted the V6 / Trophy spoiler to an Iceberg 172? Or even a Titanium 182?
If so, pics?
I like the look of them and I might be able to get one cheap, but I'd like to know what it looks like on the car first before I splash out.
I could just get a cup spoiler which I may end up doing...
S**tting hell, that's an extra 10kg of unsprung weight plus the extra air it takes to fill them, plus more side wall flex and I bet they're more expensive to buy as well.
It really does make sense to keep 195's on a 172 when you look at it like that.
EDIT: Although surely different tyres will...
