Do you have time / space / inclanation to deal with (some) idiots to make it worth breaking? The dismantling is the quick and easy bit. Don't underestimate the time required to communicate with people, pack and send parts.
If you don't want to go down the route of an engine replacement, then...
This will be interesting.
I've recently bought an 850 T5 and it's laughably quick. I've done around 400 miles in it and yet to get over 17mpg. The fact the lambda light is on and there's probably a fault somewhere won't be helping.
Hoping to take it to Combe in a couple of weeks so look out.
If you do manage to knock more of it off when cleaning it, is it really going to be an issue if you are going to get the full bumper resprayed? Clean that area lightly - not with a sandblasting nozzle like previously.
A big shitty scene sticker will attract more attention to the area than if...
I imagine in that sitution they would state that the corrosion checks are a 'once over' check on which any marks are mentioned. I've had cars which have had sheets in the history folder mentioning scratches and scrapes which were no longer visible in my ownership. I would have thought if I had...
A quick query if I may.
I've a standard OE radio/CD player from my 2002 172 cup.
Are the numbered buttons supposed to select tracks on a CD - for example if you were listening to a CD and pressed 4, should track 4 start? Mine never would. Neither of the numbers would select to relevant track...
I can't see them being much at all from Renault if that's what it is.
Get your head under and have a look and see. You may have to remove the fabric/foam cover from the end of the 'box to see it.
PMSL. Didn't want to waste 30 mins disconnecting, so rather than playing safe and just waiting, you spent 2/3 of the time you wanted to save by searching!
If you'd just...
I get the impression it's just a reduced fee loophole where the bloke has advertised it in a category like parts and accessories, put the low BIN to pay minimal fees and is just using it for maximum exposure at a low price with the actual asking price listed within.
Fair play for doing it while you can. I was tempted to do similar and buy a couple of Cosworths for the sake of it 'because I could' when I had a healthy house deposit sat earning little interest. I never got around to it for fear of finding a house and it being tied up.
The only reason I ask is because mikeh raised the question in my for sale thread for the engine. If he's genuinely interested and prepared to purchase based on a healthy result I will buy a compression tester and put the time in to fit/remove the gearbox to do a test.
Looking to do a compression test on a 172 engine which is no longer fitted in the car - therefore is obviously unable to be cranked by key.
From looking on line hand cranking with a breaker bar is highly likely to be a wasted effort.
The gearbox isn't fitted so neither is the starter. Can I...
