Clio Cup rear brake mot failure

A good reading in all fairness. I was lucky for mine to pass at the weekend. The lad doing the MOT knew they read low, but as it was in for brakes at the same time, it passed as he knew it was as good as it was ever going to be. They did loosen my load valve and try to fiddle around with it...

    Another rear disc thread?

Make that a 30mm socket and a breaker bar. You missed off penetrating fluid.

    Jack for low cars?

I drive onto a staircase of block paving to housebrick. Then get a normal trolley jack under. Jobs a goodun. Would love an alloy Arcan, but they are about 115 now from Costco IIRC.

    ktec coillies

I have them on my road car. They are fine. I don't know if they would be up to much abuse on the track as they are probably too soft for that.

    172 cup sloppy handling.

If it feels skittish and the rear shocks are that old, then change them. Worn rears make them drive like crap .

Is the phase1 a future classic?

To be a 'classic' you need to be the type of person that contines to keep a s**t,rotten, uneconomically viable car on the road due to love or which then rises in price because its one of few opposed to one of many. Sierra cosworth 3 doors seem to be a good buy when I looked a little while ago...

    Coilover and Camber Help needed

You don't need them. But they are handy to have so you can get the best out of them and have more adjustment when you get them set up.

Is the phase1 a future classic?

I'm biased and hope that the 172 cup becomes more sought after. Being one of, if not the last car to be manufactured without ABS. OK, its hardly a drivers car in a real world. Maybe the blue will do it. Even though the silver ones are less common, I would say a blue cup would be preffered. I am...

Rear Shocks leaked - Replace rear or allround?? :S

Shouldnt need to. My shocks were a right state, and the springs were fine. Again, they were replaced as part of the kit anyway, but I would say they were fully serviceable.

Rear Shocks leaked - Replace rear or allround?? :S

I bought coilovers so was replacing them anyway. Wasnt until I took it off that I realised it was more of a broken bicycle pump than a shock.

Rear Shocks leaked - Replace rear or allround?? :S

Will go down the road like a bin lid in a gale if you leave it. When I first got mine I just presumed they drove like crap at speeds. With new rears, it drove much much better

    Rear discs Renault or Brembo

I am torn between genuine Renault rear discs, or Brembo. I am more concerned about the bearing quality. Pay a little bit more and get Renault OEM with 'presumably decent' bearings? Experiences welcomed.

    MOT Testers input please

Or anyone that may know... There are hundreds of threads about 172 cups, and MOT failures. Now, my MOT is due soon and even armed with the VOSA printout proving the braking is crap, I want to be more prepared. I want to know what effort amount as a minimum is required for the rear...

    172 Ph2 shift light

It's a.. 'This time I'l warn you with a light, next time i'l drop the box if you don't behave' light. If it illuminates more than 3 times in 6 minutes, you have a forged Renault Sport box.

Never really looked twice at one of these before, but had a play with one in an Apple store and quite fancy one! I don't 'need' one, so would only get the wi fi one. I have no need for 3g, as I have BTFON, and would use it at home most of the time anyway. Or is it a case of 'even though its...

Keep my 172 Cup or Buy a 200?

Keep the Cup and when it becomes a pit chuck it in for something else. Buying a brand new Renault FTL. All IMO. I learnt the first time

Funniest Thing You Have Been Told By A Dealer...

It was done at Dick Lovett's in Cardiff. Do you know of any fixes for a leaking roof? 2002 Spider F1 Has been back for a fix but window was broken in process and rain flies in on the motorway.

Don't at all. Jump straight in and take it easy until its naturally warmed up. The limiter is lower when cold anyway.
