Got the dash back in, managed to snap the heater control of so a bit of no more nails has come to my rescue!
Also text fitted the centre console to make sure that still had a good fit.
My agenda for tomorrow is:
Tighten the oil cooler pipes in their final position
Plumb in the boost...
Cracking advice that mate, thanks very much! I'd only done the sandwich plate so far, so easy to sort.
I've just put the dash back in too, so more pics to come later
Managed to get a fair bit done this morning in prep for the gauges being wired in tommorrow.
test fitted the oil cooler pipes, perfect length and fit perfectly! I've gone a bit OTT with the ptfe tape but I really only want to plumb this in once and wilt any issues, so hopefully should be ok...
Thanks mate will do! Just looking forward to the weekend now! Looking forward to seeing how the dash and gauges look and work when they're in. Not forgetting hearing the car start for the first time in ages!
I've also managed to get the an fittings on the braided hose for the oil cooler...
Few little updates......
I've cut all my oil cooler pipes to size and test fitted the sandwich plate which all seems to fit well. My auto electrician mate is coming round on Sunday to help me wire up the gauges to make sure I don't do anything stupid! He's also linking my fan to a switch on...
It's a 16 row
I couldn't find a thermostatic plate with ports for gauges! I know I could have double decked them, but that made me think more that could go wrong lol!
I did think about that and nearly went for it! Only thing that stopped me was the fact I haven't got a thermostatic sandwich plate, so didn't want the oil being over cooled, at least this way I can cover the cooler up so have the option if it gets too cool.
i'll defo stick it there if this way...
i don't think there's enough room behind the inter cooler, good point tho and worth a look
That was my thinking too. On the road it won't need the air as I doubt it'll need cooling, on track I can just whip the plate off and then go at it!
Have you you got an oil cooler on yours?
It's got a good cm or so behind it, so should be enough gap for air to flow through, if not, it's all part of the project, finding out what works and what doesn't. If I'm finding oil temps are too high I'll relocate somewhere else
Done a bit on the cup today, test fitted the rad. Which I'm really surprised is a great fit, and a straight swap! You can see from the pics below its about double the thickness so should do the trick.
I also test fitted the oil cooler, I've decided to stick it behind the number plate and...
I hate February!!
It’s been a shocker! Obviously from the above you can see the crash I had. Fine no biggy, I got paid out from the other guys insurance company (as he admitted liability), car is a Cat D now.
I popped all the body work back on, cleaned the other cars paint off and I’m left...
Another note just in case, my passenger side rear window seal went, water was coming in from there collecting in a puddle and sloshing about. Then when breaking/accelerating it would all come rushing the passenger front footwell
Yeah very minimal! That's why I'm surprised they decided its a total loss. It only needs a wing, light and bumper, easily sourced on ebay, CS etc!
Just a pain!
Well having this happen wasn't in the project brief. Totally gutted considering the time and effort that went into it! All that hard work on the bonnet too!!
Old man not looking when pulling out of a junction = busted car. He's admitted full liability and I have witness statements so all is...
Not 100% decided yet, sandwich plate with take offs seem the most straight forward. That or T off where the stock oil pressure sensor is. Where have you stuck yours?
I've collected some parts through out Jan. Managed to get an alloy rad, 16 row oil cooler and the last in my trio of gauges, oil temp!
Next on the list are hoses and connectors for the oil cooler. Got an auto electrician mate booked in at the end of Feb to help relocate the battery from...
I cant imbed for shizzel! The previous owner my clio turbo took this.....quite interesting...

As the sun decided to make an appearance today I thought I'd have a go at at few bits on the turbo. I've been needing to get dash out for ages as I need to sort the cabling out and install all my gauges properly, that way once it's in, it's in! No more pissing about!
so out came the dash and...
I've been using the car for a month now, and all good! So nice to have a decent run around again after having 106 zest for 2 years!
I’ve booked it into the garage this weekend just to sort the last few tinkering bits out as I haven’t got the time and my drives wet!
Points to note, tracking...
